| SAP | Legacy | SAP S/4HANA Cloud | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2020 | 2021 |
In 2020, Valley National Bank implemented SAP S/4HANA Cloud as its ERP Financial system to drive a finance-focused digital transformation. The deployment targeted core financial operations across the regional bank, covering retail and commercial banking functions for Valley National Bank and its parent Valley National Bancorp, which operates roughly 200 branch locations in New Jersey, New York, Florida and Alabama.
The SAP S/4HANA Cloud implementation concentrated on core finance modules including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial close and reconciliation automation, leveraging pre-delivered best practices to reduce extensive manual workflows and reconciliations. Configuration emphasized cloud-native, stable architecture and high integration capacity to enable real-time financial reporting, standardized ledgers and consolidated accounting processes within the ERP Financial landscape.
EY served as the implementation partner, providing industry and banking finance advisory to align SAP S/4HANA Cloud with Valley Bank’s business processes and control frameworks. Integrations were scoped to connect the ERP Financial layer with existing banking operational data sources and downstream finance consumers, supporting centralized finance operations and consistent reporting across branches and regional sites.
Governance and process transformation focused on standardizing finance workflows, tightening reconciliation controls and enabling data-driven decision making for treasury and finance leaders using SAP S/4HANA Cloud. Valley Bank positioned the program to achieve faster, more insightful finance operations without quantified claims, with the implementation intended to support ongoing agility in meeting customer and regulatory expectations.

| Fidelity Investments | Legacy | Fidelity Netbenefits | Benefits Administration | HCM | n/a | 2015 | 2016 |
In 2015, Valley National Bank implemented Fidelity NetBenefits as its Benefits Administration platform. The deployment positioned Fidelity NetBenefits to manage benefits enrollment and event processing for Valley National Bank, covering administration for approximately 3,500 exempt and nonexempt employees and the bank's retiree payroll population.
Configuration focused on benefits lifecycle capabilities, including new hire, rehire, transfer, termination, and compensation change workflows, census and eligibility management, and stock file handling for equity compensation. Fidelity NetBenefits was used to capture and validate benefit changes and to produce files used in payroll runs, aligning benefit deductions and retiree payroll inputs with established payroll workflows.
Integrations were implemented between Fidelity NetBenefits and the bank payroll and accounting channels, specifically supporting stock files imported from Fidelity into the bank's Enterprise payroll system and biweekly payroll data batch uploads. Biweekly journal entries derived from payroll and benefit feeds were submitted to Accounting for general ledger posting, and Fidelity NetBenefits supported data flows used to audit and approve tax deposits and transfers for the bank and its subsidiaries.
Operational ownership spanned HR, Payroll, Finance, and Accounting, with process controls that included address and tax change approvals, garnishment processing, manual check handling, and post audit reconciliation. The Fidelity NetBenefits implementation supported quarterly, year end, and SOX audit evidence and post audit remediation workflows, with ongoing review and validation of payroll related checking and GL accounts as part of governed payroll and benefits operations.

| Fiserv | Legacy | Fiserv Premier Bank Platform | Core Banking | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2014 | 2014 |
In 2014, Valley National Bank implemented Fiserv Premier Bank Platform as its Core Banking application to centralize electronic services and transaction processing at its Bettendorf, IA information technology operation. The implementation covered customer-facing channels and back office capabilities, with responsibilities executed by the eCommerce Administrator in Information Technology to manage mobile banking, retail and business online services, and ACH Origination functions.
The Fiserv Premier Bank Platform deployment included Remote Deposit Capture, secure email, Cash Management functions, and custom reporting using Fiserv Premier Business Analytics also known as Prime or Viewpoint. Administration tasks documented in the implementation included maintenance of online banking themes, management of all domains and two bank websites, internal SharePoint intranet stewardship, and creation of reference documentation and staff training materials tied directly to the platform configuration.
Operational workflows extended to provisioning and access control for bank staff, participation in I.T. HelpDesk and after hours support, and audit of Cash Management contracts to align service entitlements with platform capabilities. The team reviewed Fiserv release documentation to plan updates, issued notifications and training to appropriate staff, and managed vendor relationships as part of ongoing platform governance and operational readiness.
Governance was formalized through participation in the bank Technology Committee and involvement on the FiServ to Jack Henry conversion project management team, reflecting platform lifecycle planning and cross-functional coordination. The bank I.T. department was eliminated following the later conversion to Great Southern Bank, an explicit operational outcome noted after the Fiserv Premier Bank Platform era.
