In 2014 Vicinity Centres implemented Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne as its core ERP Financial platform, upgrading from JDE EnterpriseOne 9.0 to 9.2 to restore vendor support and version currency. The upgrade was driven by Ian Padgham, Acting CIO, and executed with significant involvement from Vicinity’s internal project team led by David Harry and long standing partner Ndevr, aiming to minimize business as usual interruption and reinstate supported component certification.
The implementation upgraded the JD Edwards Tools release from 9.2.0.7 to 9.2.2.2 and deployed the new JD Edwards security module All Out Security, while rationalising customisations and enabling the Orchestrator capability to simplify future integrations and internet of things enabled workflows. Functional changes included user interface enhancements, new mobility features and a watchlist capability to improve end user experience, and configuration work that prepared the environment for Oracle’s continuous delivery cadence.
Integrations were executed with Basware as a concurrent project, requiring coordinated interface touchpoints with two other large initiatives running in parallel, and cross project team collaboration to manage interdependencies. The deployment covered Vicinity Centres’ enterprise asset management context, supporting a fully integrated asset management platform that services 66 shopping centres and the company’s retail property operations across Australia.
Governance and rollout emphasized reduced custom code, quality focused code retrofit, and end user engagement throughout testing and cutover, resulting in delivery on time and under budget. Outcomes documented by Vicinity include the ability to adopt Oracle’s continuous delivery model to avoid future major upgrade projects through to 2028, improved security assurance from being current on releases, simplified end user workflows, and reduced ongoing ERP project cost exposure with Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne as the ERP Financial backbone.

In 2016, Vicinity Centres implemented Workday Absence Management as part of its Workday HCM deployment, aligning the company with the Absence and Leave Management category for its 1257 employee retail portfolio in Australia. The Workday Absence Management application was deployed within the enterprise Workday tenant to centralize Time Off and Absence workflows alongside core HCM functionality and reporting capabilities.
Configuration emphasized Workday Time Off and Absence modules, security role configuration, and reporting suites. Cassie McDonald served as a named Workday HCM subject matter expert and HR Project Lead, providing configuration and business as usual support, and contributing to Advanced Compensation, Talent, Recruitment and Learning configurations that contextualized absence data within broader HR processes. Executive dashboards for the Executive Committee were developed using Workday reporting and complementary Excel models to surface absence trends and support senior decision making.
Operational coverage focused on the People & Culture Shared Services team and HR operations across Vicinity Centres sites in Melbourne and broader Australian operations, with the Shared Services team handling Level 1 queries and Cassie responding to escalated Level 2 queries. Governance included an embedded named support contact model, formalized standard operating procedures for absence request and approval workflows, and stakeholder engagement processes to scope and embed process improvements into business as usual operations.
Rollout and ongoing governance prioritized simplification of core HR processes and improving the employee experience through configuration control, reporting discipline, and continued BAU support. Workday Absence Management remains instrumented as the central Absence and Leave Management capability within Vicinity Centres workstreams, with ongoing process refinement and internal subject matter expertise driving operational stability.

| Amazon Web Services (AWS) | Legacy | Amazon Redshift | Data Warehouse | Analytics and BI | n/a | 2018 | 2018 |
In 2018, Vicinity Centres implemented Amazon Redshift as their Data Warehouse on Amazon Web Services, establishing a centralized analytics repository for retail and corporate reporting. The implementation supported the development of new subject areas to consolidate transactional and operational data for analytics workloads.
Development work concentrated on building dimensional subject areas and schemas inside Amazon Redshift, with Python used for ETL scripting and automated load routines. Configuration activities included cluster provisioning on AWS, staging area design, schema modeling, and automation of data ingestion consistent with data warehouse engineering practices.
Integration scope included ingestion of source feeds from JDE to populate financial and operational subject areas in Amazon Redshift, and development and operations used Windows and Linux workstations. Visio diagrams were produced to document data flows and entity relationships, aligning analytics, finance and retail operations stakeholders around standardized models.
Governance and rollout emphasized data modeling standards, documentation and handover, and the establishment of access controls for warehouse consumers, supported by contract-based consulting resources who assisted with iterative subject-area development and knowledge transfer. Amazon Redshift was positioned as the central Data Warehouse platform for ongoing expansion of analytical coverage.
