Suny College At Cortland | Professional Services | 10 | $1M | United States | Apereo | Apereo CAS | Identity and Access Management (IAM) | 2025 | Cirrus Identity |
In 2025, Suny College At Cortland deployed Apereo CAS using a Cirrus Identity CAS Bridge to integrate authentication with ADFS in the United States. The initial rollout targeted roughly a dozen CAS-enabled applications, including Banner, and centralized the institution's CAS-based single sign-on endpoints under the Apereo CAS deployment. Apps Category:
Apereo CAS was configured to provide centralized single sign-on and service ticket authentication for student and ERP access, with the Cirrus Identity CAS Bridge enabling federation to ADFS for campus Active Directory authentication flows. Configuration work focused on CAS protocol endpoints, service registry entries for each application, and session management and ticket validation consistent with identity and access management patterns.
Cirrus Identity led the bridge implementation and coordinated application cutover sequencing and service registry updates for the migrated applications. The project scope covered campus application authentication and Banner ERP access, and from the application list it is inferred Apereo CAS had been used to deliver student and ERP SSO prior to this 2025 implementation.

Trustees Indiana University | Education | 16000 | $2.7B | United States | Apereo | Apereo CAS | Identity and Access Management (IAM) | 2014 | Unicon |
In 2014, Trustees Indiana University extended Apereo CAS as part of a campus Identity and Access Management implementation to strengthen IT and security authentication capabilities across the university in the United States. The work was developed and delivered in collaboration with Unicon, and the project focused on enhancing core authentication and access control services using Apereo CAS.
The implementation added two-factor authentication, password policy management, and federated identity capabilities as discrete functional modules within the Apereo CAS deployment. Apereo CAS was configured to host additional authentication handlers and policy enforcement points, enabling stronger credential management, stepped authentication flows, and cross-institution single sign on through federation.
Operationally the effort addressed IT and security business functions across campus, extending the CAS server footprint to cover campus authentication use cases and federated access for partner institutions. Development and delivery included modular extensions and code contributions, with features packaged for reuse and maintained alongside the CAS codebase.
Governance for the program included a collaborative delivery model with Unicon, and Indiana University contributed the developed code and features back to the Apereo CAS community to benefit other institutions. Apereo CAS enhancements were released to the community in 2014, aligning local campus identity processes with community-maintained IAM capabilities.
