Despar Italia | Retail | 6000 | $4.4B | Italy | Aton SB | Aton .onRetail | Retail Management | 2019 | n/a |
In 2019, Despar Italia implemented Aton .onRetail, a Retail Management application. The deployment was developed by Aton in collaboration with Aspiag Service and extended product lifecycle management into stores and warehouses across the Despar network.
The implementation delivered a single mobile App model that centralized store-level tasks, enabling orders, inventories, return management, goods movement and promotional handling from rack-level. Aton .onRetail provided analytics and statistics for articles sold, ordered, in arrival or in promotion so store staff could analyze and place orders directly at the racks, accelerating replenishment and promotional execution.
Operationally the solution connected individual stores to centralized warehouse functions, creating a continuous data flow between point-of-sale locations and distribution nodes, and supporting store operations, inventory control, replenishment and returns processing. The scope covered Aspiag-managed points of sale across Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige and Emilia Romagna and integrated store-level mobile workflows into broader supply chain processes.
Governance and rollout emphasized user-centered development and staff engagement, with employees involved from needs detection through App realization and promotion, and with Aspiag Service coordinating deployment in direct and affiliate stores. Internal promotion used employee spokespeople in social media to explain operational changes, reflecting a change management approach that prioritized adoption and real-time information availability for store teams.
The project yielded explicit operational outcomes reported by the participants, including one million fewer printed documents, 400,000 orders digitalized and error zeroing in the tracking phase for products on the racks of 589 Despar, Eurospar and Interspar stores managed by Aspiag Service, and broader improvements in real-time information and environmental care.

EMI Supermercati | Retail | 1000 | $200M | Italy | Aton SB | Aton .onRetail | Retail Management | 2021 | n/a |
In 2021 EMI Supermercati implemented Aton .onRetail as its Retail Management application to manage point of sale operations directly at the shelf. The deployment targeted store-level transaction handling and mobile point of sale workflows, positioning Aton .onRetail as the core retail management layer for front-of-store checkout and shelf-side transactions.
Aton .onRetail was configured to support standard point of sale capabilities including transaction processing, barcode scanning workflows, price verification at shelf, and cashier or mobile-assisted checkout orchestration. Configuration emphasized POS workflow automation and real-time transactional processing consistent with Retail Management functional expectations, while retaining device-side controls for handheld scanners and mobile checkout terminals.
The implementation explicitly integrated the SOTI ONE platform for remote management of the mobile device fleet, enabling centralized provisioning, software distribution, device monitoring, and remote troubleshooting for handheld POS devices. This integration linked Aton .onRetail operational workflows with device lifecycle management, reducing the need for on-site device intervention and aligning device management with store operations.
Operational governance shifted device administration and POS operational oversight toward centralized IT and store operations teams, formalizing remote device lifecycle procedures and in-store transaction support workflows. Rollout was focused on embedding Aton .onRetail into day-to-day front-of-store operations and coupling those processes with SOTI ONE managed device controls for consistent operational governance.

Grupo Poli | Retail | 1657 | $701M | Italy | Aton SB | Aton .onRetail | Retail Management | 2020 | n/a |
In 2020, Grupo Poli deployed Aton .onRetail as its Retail Management application to digitise store operational processes. The project originated from a need to automate inventory of products in stock, the control and receipt of incoming goods against orders placed with the central warehouse or direct suppliers, and to move transactional tasks away from a single back office terminal.
Aton .onRetail was configured with store management capabilities focused on stock inventory, order control and goods receipt, and mobile order management to capture movements on the move. The implementation leverages the Android operating system and Zebra handheld terminals to enable barcode scanning, handheld inventory adjustments and real time transaction capture, enabling modernized functionality compared to equipment used in the past.
Integrations concentrate on preserving order references and receipts tied to central warehouse ordering flows and direct supplier deliveries, keeping reconciliation and receipt confirmations at store level. Operational coverage is focused on Grupo Poli store teams and impacts business functions including store operations, inventory management, goods receiving and order processing, with the application enabling staff to reallocate attention toward customers.
The rollout emphasized process change and governance that moved goods receipt and inventory tasks into mobile workflows, reducing workload in order management and eliminating slowdowns caused by reliance on a single back office workstation. Aton SB worked with Grupo Poli on configuration and deployment to align the Retail Management application with the companys employee and customer centric operating model.
