Ensign-Bickford Industries | Manufacturing | 1600 | $500M | United States | Equans Digital | Equans MES | Manufacturing Execution System | 2021 | n/a |
In 2021, Ensign-Bickford Industries implemented Equans MES in the Manufacturing Execution System category as part of a broader initiative to automate core operational workflows and strengthen ERP integrations. The Equans MES deployment was coordinated alongside projects to automate payroll between Workday and ADP and to establish a daily SAP Concur to IFS data pipeline, aligning shop floor execution with enterprise finance processes.
Equans MES was configured to support Manufacturing Execution System capabilities such as work order execution, shop floor control, and real time production status reporting, with emphasis on API driven data exchange. Configuration focused on synchronizing production confirmations and routing status with IFS ERP, enabling tighter operational coordination between manufacturing and back office systems.
Integrations leveraged the Boomi integration platform, using an IFS connector and REST API orchestration to automate daily retrieval of Concur T&E data and to create external vouchers within IFS. The documented integration set includes Concur to IFS, IFS to Equans MES, and Workday to ADP, extending operational coverage across manufacturing, finance, and human resources and enabling automated data flows into IFS for downstream processing.
Governance and rollout were managed by the EBI Global Applications Team with the Data and Analytics manager collaborating directly with Boomi to compose the required IFS API interactions for automated voucher creation. The automated Concur to IFS pipeline reduced potential failure points by approximately 75 percent before data reaches IFS, eliminated 100 percent of manual effort required to load T&E data into IFS, and cut at least 95 percent of manual work for business users, while the Workday to ADP payroll integration reduced hours and error risk for finance and HR.

ForFarmers | Manufacturing | 2900 | $3.0B | Netherlands | Equans Digital | Equans MES | Manufacturing Execution System | 2012 | n/a |
In 2012 ForFarmers engaged Equans Digital to deploy Equans MES, a Manufacturing Execution System, as the backbone of an integrated Smart Factory solution across multiple feed plants in the Netherlands. The program began with an initial implementation in 2012 and proceeded through successive site rollouts in 2015, 2018, and 2022, culminating in a full automation of the Reudink plant completed end 2023.
Equans MES was implemented alongside SCADA and PLC integration to create a unified plant floor architecture, providing production control, batch management, recipe execution, and real time process monitoring. The deployment emphasized track and trace capabilities and automated control routines typical of Manufacturing Execution System implementations, with configuration focused on standardized workflows and deterministic equipment interfaces.
System integration tied the MES layer directly into plant PLCs and SCADA supervisory layers for closed loop control, and included an explicit SAP integration to exchange production orders and traceability data with enterprise systems. Operational coverage targeted multiple ForFarmers feed plants in the Netherlands, with the Reudink site moved to full automation as the final phase, affecting production, maintenance, quality and supply chain traceability functions.
Governance followed a phased rollout model with site by site standardization of controls and operational processes, enabling repeatable configuration and reduced commissioning risk across waves. The implementation delivered higher capacity and fewer stoppages, while providing end to end track and trace and SAP connectivity as reported by Equans.

Schils | Consumer Packaged Goods | 71 | $7M | Netherlands | Equans Digital | Equans MES | Manufacturing Execution System | 2024 | n/a |
In 2024, Schils engaged Equans Digital to upgrade its long-standing Equans MES Toolbox and expand automation at the Sittard young-animal feed plant. The Equans MES Manufacturing Execution System has been live at the Sittard factory since January 2024.
The implementation combined a Toolbox upgrade with an automation expansion that added production lines, inline weighers and advanced dosing logic. Configuration work focused on process control capabilities and recipe management consistent with Manufacturing Execution System workflows, enabling more flexible line changeovers and automated batch dosing sequences. Equans Digital commissioned the new weighers and dosing algorithms into the Equans MES environment to coordinate real-time production sequencing and control.
Operational coverage is plant level at the Sittard site, impacting production operations and shop floor control functions including dosing control and weighing workflows. Rollout included on-site commissioning and operational turnover to plant operators and maintenance staff, and the factory has operated under the upgraded Equans MES since January 2024. The project documentation states the expansion and advanced dosing logic were implemented to increase flexibility and production efficiency.
