Costco | Retail | 333000 | $254.5B | United States | OneStream Software LLC | OneStream Sensible ML | ML and Data Science Platforms | 2022 | Inlumi |
In 2022 Costco implemented OneStream Sensible ML as an extension of its OneStream Intelligent Finance platform to unify demand planning with financial goals, embedding ML and Data Science Platforms capabilities into planning and forecasting workflows. The deployment emphasized linking demand forecasts to financial budgets and rolling three month forecasts while providing guided analytics and operational dashboards for warehouse managers.
The project followed an 18 month implementation plan, executed with implementation partner Finit Solutions and SI VAR Inlumi, and targeted financial close, consolidation, reporting, cashflow, and budgeting workflows. The rollout enabled budget input for 4,000 users worldwide and created intuitive dashboards that give warehouse managers visibility into key metrics and business trends, simplifying annual budgeting and monthly forecast updates.
OneStream Sensible ML was configured to support demand planning models, guided analytics, drill path exploration, and drill through to transaction level detail in SAP ERP for warehouse level analysis. Functional modules implemented include consolidation and close, P and L reporting, variance commentary, task management, workflow, cashflow reporting with automated roll forward logic, and ML driven demand planning tied to budgeting and forecasting.
Integrations were implemented to surface transactional detail from multiple SAP and i Series ERPs, and the solution consolidated data previously dispersed across Excel and Cognos BI into a single system of record for close and reporting. The implementation also included Finit Solutions DrillIt tooling to enhance drill down and reviewer workflows, producing fully exportable multi tab results for detailed investigation.
Governance changes centralized workflow and task management within OneStream, shifting owner review activity into the platform and enabling clearer visibility for accounting and finance teams. Explicit outcomes reported by Costco include the creation of 4,000 power users, reallocation of 25% of FTE time to value added work, a shift of three days from preparation to analysis of financial results, and materially faster cashflow preparation and review within the platform.

Polaris | Manufacturing | 18500 | $8.9B | United States | OneStream Software LLC | OneStream Sensible ML | ML and Data Science Platforms | 2018 | OneStream Software |
In 2018, Polaris selected OneStream and initiated a multi phase deployment that later incorporated OneStream Sensible ML. OneStream Sensible ML is positioned within Polaris’s ML and Data Science Platforms footprint to operationalize finance driven machine learning for planning and forecasting.
The implementation built on a unified OneStream platform that Polaris had rolled out for financial consolidations, external and management reporting, and FP&A, with OneStream Software serving as implementation partner. Sensible ML was configured to extend Polaris’s Driver Based Revenue Model, ingesting historic shipped units and product level drivers to produce driver based forecasts. The pilot focused on the North American Off Road Products GBU with a 12 month forecast horizon and model inputs that included commodity prices, presold orders, clean build percentages, and build to ship durations.
Data architecture and functional modules combined a historic data model of 181 products with weekly units from 2016 through 2022, commodity price time series for steel and aluminum, and event calendars to generate and compare over 2,800 machine learning models. Sensible ML was integrated into the existing planning workflow, running monthly and feeding model outputs into the drive based forecast processes within OneStream. Analytic Blend and Account Reconciliations modules were part of the broader OneStream deployment that provided VIN and customer level data enrichment for finance and analytics teams.
Governance and operational ownership were placed within the Office of Finance and the Polaris Data Science team, enabling a finance run ML forecasting process with business accessible model transparency via an internal Value Add Dashboard. The rollout path moved from technical preview to productionization of the Driver Based Revenue financial planning model, with plans to expand forecast horizons and to ingest an additional 20 to 30 economic and promotional features for ongoing model refinement.
Outcomes reported by Polaris included materially faster forecast cycles, reducing forecasting from days to hours, improved forecast accuracy relative to prior approaches, and greater transparency into feature level drivers that allowed finance and product teams to inspect and improve models. The implementation demonstrated the integration of OneStream Sensible ML into enterprise planning processes across finance, FP&A, and product line forecasting within Polaris.

Stora Enso | Manufacturing | 20000 | $10.1B | Finland | OneStream Software LLC | OneStream Sensible ML | ML and Data Science Platforms | 2023 | n/a |
In 2023, Stora Enso implemented OneStream Sensible ML to enhance scenario simulation and forecasting across its finance and operational planning functions. The deployment leverages ML and Data Science Platforms capabilities to embed machine learning directly into forecasting workflows and what-if scenario analysis.
The implementation consolidated multiple business processes within the OneStream platform, enabling historical data analysis, interactive dashboards for forecasts and what-if scenarios, and Sensible ML driven scenario simulation. Key functional capabilities implemented include automated forecast generation, driver explainability to surface feature importance for commodity prices and spending trends, and a robust data pipeline to produce forward-looking predictions.
Sensible ML integrates with Stora Enso's existing OneStream planning workflows so FP&A teams and operational analysts can consume ML predictions inside their driver-based forecasting process. The initial operational coverage targeted three use cases, commodity rates for pulp and wood, commodity rates for chemicals, and accounts payable spending trends, and incorporated external macroeconomic indicators as features.
Governance focused on embedding ML outputs into existing planning, reporting and dashboard processes to maintain financial process consistency while enabling rapid generation of new predictions. Early results reported by Stora Enso include improvements in forecast accuracy compared to traditional methods, increased planning efficiency and enhanced driver explainability, with the company positioning this as an initial phase to be scaled across additional use cases via the implemented data pipeline.
