Adventist Health | Healthcare | 28600 | $6.3B | United States | Oracle | Oracle Cerner RevWorks | Revenue Cycle Management | 2018 | n/a |
In 2018, Adventist Health transitioned hundreds of revenue cycle and clinical and IT staff to Oracle Cerner RevWorks in an outsourced Revenue Cycle Management arrangement. The engagement positioned Oracle Cerner RevWorks to manage core revenue cycle activities under a managed services structure and to operate as the provider of record for billing, claims processing, and patient financial workflows.
Oracle Cerner RevWorks was configured to handle standard Revenue Cycle Management functional modules including patient access and eligibility verification, claims submission and tracking, billing and accounts receivable, and denials management. Configuration emphasized workflow orchestration, centralized claims adjudication, and standardized revenue integrity controls to align clinical documentation with billing processes.
Operational coverage extended to Adventist Health revenue cycle and clinical IT personnel who were transferred into the Cerner-managed organization, creating an integrated operational relationship between clinical documentation and revenue workflows. The arrangement required cross-functional coordination between Cerner staff and Adventist Health finance and clinical teams to maintain claims continuity and billing operations.
The outsourced contract was ended and revenue cycle operations were transitioned back to Adventist Health in late 2019, a repatriation that involved employee transfers and governance handover to Adventist. The transition was accompanied by a reported $60 million impairment charge for Cerner.

Via Christi Health | Non Profit | 10000 | $2.0B | United States | Oracle | Oracle Cerner RevWorks | Revenue Cycle Management | 2014 | n/a |
In 2014, Via Christi Health implemented Oracle Cerner RevWorks in a Revenue Cycle Management engagement, engaging the RevWorks Extended Business Office to remediate a severe revenue cycle backlog and staffing shortages following a Cerner go-live in June 2014. The effort was explicitly focused on billing remediation, payer posting correction, and accounts receivable management across Via Christi operations in Kansas.
The deployment relied on Oracle Cerner RevWorks Extended Business Office capabilities to provide staffed billing operations, prioritized remediation workflows, and centralized payer posting and claims billing processes. Up to 15 RevWorks EBO billing associates were deployed to remediate payer posting and billing issues, working against billing and A R functional workflows to clear discharged not final billed inventories and aged receivables.
Operational governance emphasized an extended business office model that augmented internal billing teams and concentrated on process execution for payer posting correction and claim billing follow up. The RevWorks EBO engagement reduced accounts receivable by 83 million dollars and discharged not final billed balances by 50 million dollars in just over three months, outcomes achieved while using the contracted pool of billing associates to remediate posting and billing workflows.
