Chemnitz Hospital | Healthcare | 300 | $32M | Germany | SAP | SAP SAP IS-H Healthcare | Healthcare ERP | 2007 | PROFI Engineering Systems Germany | In 2007, Klinikum Chemnitz implemented SAP SAP IS-H Healthcare as its core Healthcare ERP to consolidate hospital information and support clinical and administrative workflows. The initiative began with a mid-2007 feasibility study and sizing analysis, proceeded through a Europe-wide tender, and moved into hardware delivery and installation in late 2008 with productive operation commencing March 1, 2009. The deployment was implemented on a shared IBM Power Systems platform in cooperation with Klinikum Mittleres Erzgebirge, using virtualization, a large shared SAN, the AIX 6.1 operating system with current patches, and a DB2 database. High availability was addressed with HACMP clustering enabling automatic failover between two IBM Power p570 systems across two physically separated sites, mirrored system availability across different fire sections, and an automatic LTO4 tape library backup architecture to preserve data availability and recovery. SAP SAP IS-H Healthcare was configured to run the complete workflow of hospital operations including development and quality assurance landscapes hosted at the partner site, and production services for Klinikum Chemnitz users. The shared platform supports approximately 1,200 named users with 400 concurrent users at Klinikum Chemnitz and about 400 named users with 120 concurrent users at Klinikum Mittleres Erzgebirge, with up to 300 gigabytes of stored database data. The on site implementation and system setup were delivered by PROFI Engineering Systems Germany and operation coordination involved Mid German Health GmbH as the IT service provider for Klinikum Chemnitz. Governance emphasized cost efficiency and operational consolidation, concentrating the number of active servers from eight to three and leveraging virtualization and scalability for future security. Reported outcomes from the joint operation include over 20 percent savings in investment costs through consolidation, a further 10 percent estimated savings in operations and maintenance, reduced energy consumption, and sub-second response times that improved user acceptance while maintaining a sustainable, scalable Healthcare ERP platform.

Jena University Hospital | Healthcare | 5600 | $800M | Germany | SAP | SAP SAP IS-H Healthcare | Healthcare ERP | 2000 | n/a | In 2000, Jena University Hospital implemented SAP SAP IS-H Healthcare. The Healthcare ERP deployment uses SAP i.s.h.med as the hospital's clinical information and patient-management system, operating across ambulatory and inpatient workflows to support patient-facing care processes. The implementation explicitly includes patient-management and abrechnung capabilities described on the hospital IT application pages, indicating these modules are in production. Configuration emphasizes patient administration and clinical documentation workflows, aligning billing functionality with clinical events and admission, scheduling and discharge processes common to Healthcare ERP solutions. SAP i.s.h.med is integrated with other specialty systems to support multidisciplinary care processes, providing a central patient record and interfacing departmental systems for clinical continuity. Operational scope spans clinical departments across the hospital, with governance arrangements focused on coordinating clinical workflow owners and IT to manage system configuration and ongoing module usage.

Universitaetsklinikum Regensburg Germany | Healthcare | 5000 | $450M | Germany | SAP | SAP SAP IS-H Healthcare | Healthcare ERP | 2010 | n/a | In 2010 Universitaetsklinikum Regensburg implemented SAP SAP IS-H Healthcare as its core hospital information system. The deployment in Germany established SAP SAP IS-H Healthcare as the central Healthcare ERP supporting patient data, coding and billing workflows across the university hospital. The implementation focused on clinical and administrative functionality, with SAP i.s.h.med used for patient record consolidation, coding workflows and billing orchestration. Functional scope explicitly included real-time coding support and billing integration, positioning the application as the primary system of record for patient information and charge capture. Universitaetsklinikum Regensburg integrated third party solutions, most notably 3M SMARTE Coding, with SAP i.s.h.med to streamline coding and billing processes and to provide real-time data to coders. These integrations indicate interfaces between the Healthcare ERP and external coding engines, enabling coder worklists and automated data exchange for clinical coding and claims preparation. Governance and operational coverage were hospital wide, impacting coding teams, billing and revenue cycle operations and clinical documentation workflows. The integration architecture centralized coding and billing orchestration in SAP SAP IS-H Healthcare and restructured coder access to near real-time clinical data, aligning coding processes with the hospital information system rather than disparate point solutions.
