In 2017 OMP implemented Simerics PumpLinx as its Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) application to support hydraulic and internal flow simulation for pump product development. The Simerics PumpLinx implementation was centered in Research and Development engineering at O.M.P. Officine Mazzocco Pagnoni S.r.l in Funo, Bologna, Italy, and targeted positive displacement and centrifugal pump design verification and optimization.
The deployment emphasized CFD calculations using Simerics PumpLinx alongside established design tools, with centrifugal pump impeller sizing performed via CFTurbo and preliminary verification and optimization executed with self developed Matlab codes. Structural analysis workflows, including static and fatigue evaluation of pump housings, were coordinated with CREO Simulate outputs, while 1D modeling was used for fast calculation of Gerotor and variable displacement oil pumps.
