Louisville/Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District | Utilities | 755 | $426M | United States | SAP | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | 2022 | Phoenix Business Consulting | In 2022, Louisville/Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District initiated a migration from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4 HANA to modernize its core financial and administrative platforms under an ERP Financial program. The project targeted the utility's finance, procurement, and HR processes across MSD, an organization with approximately 755 employees operating in Louisville, Kentucky. Phoenix Business Consulting served as the system integrator for the SAP S/4 HANA implementation and executed a twelve month delivery culminating in a go-live in April 2023. The SAP S/4 HANA deployment included core financial ledger and accounts payable capabilities, payroll processing modernization, procurement transaction optimization, and invoice management using VIM invoices. Technical configuration incorporated Single Sign On for enterprise authentication and integration of barcode scanner workflows to support field and inventory operations. VIM invoices were incorporated into accounts payable flows, and PO detail reporting performance was tuned within SAP S/4 HANA to address procurement reporting latency. Rollout governance emphasized tight collaboration between MSD and Phoenix Business Consulting, following a coordinated cutover that completed within the stated twelve month timeline and achieved production readiness in April 2023. Change management prioritized finance and HR workflow adjustments to support accelerated payroll cadence and updated procurement approval paths. Documented outcomes from the implementation include a reported reduction in payroll processing time of 60 percent to 70 percent and a 50 percent improvement in PO detail report performance as stated by MSD. The SAP S/4 HANA implementation now operates as Louisville/Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District's ERP Financial backbone across impacted business functions.

Portland General Electric | Utilities | 2842 | $2.9B | United States | Oracle | Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management | Utilities ERP | 2020 | n/a | In 2020, Portland General Electric implemented Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management as part of its Utilities ERP portfolio. The engagement focused on centralizing meter data capture and processing to support downstream customer care and billing workflows. Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management was configured to perform AMI ingestion, data validation, event processing and aggregation consistent with standard meter data management capabilities. Functional scope tied meter reads to Customer to Meter and Customer Care and Billing constructs, including rates, usage management, billing itemization and payments, and leveraged Oracle Utilities Application Framework design patterns alongside SQL based repositories for transactional and analytic needs. The deployment followed a cloud capable system delivery approach and a SQL backed data layer to support near real time AMI message ingestion and reconciled batch feeds. Explicit integrations described in the program included ERP, GIS, AMI head end systems, Salesforce CRM and customer self service portals, with API and batch interfaces orchestrating data flows between Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management and CC&B for meter to cash processing. Governance and delivery methods emphasized structured workshops, conformance reviews, solution architecture and systems design activities. The program required definition of URMs and process blueprints, ownership of functional design, creation of business use cases and test scenarios, coordination with offshore development teams, and training and usability evaluations to align meter data operations with customer service, billing, rates and field operations.
