Grupo Puerto de Cartagena | Transportation | 1000 | $300M | Colombia | IBM | IBM Maximo - Purchase Module | Procurement | 2011 | n/a | In 2011 Grupo Puerto de Cartagena implemented IBM Maximo - Purchase Module. The deployment targeted the maintenance organization within Sociedad Portuaria Cartagena and operated as part of a broader IBM Maximo footprint that included Assets, Preventive Maintenance, Plans, Administration, Work Orders, Contracts and Warranties modules. IBM Maximo - Purchase Module was configured to manage procurement lifecycle functions consistent with the Procurement category, including requisitions, purchase orders, contract linkage, and supplier record management, and it was instrumented to interact with work order and asset records for parts and service procurement. Configuration emphasized approvals and project-linked purchasing to support maintenance projects and to align purchasing events with planned maintenance activities. Operational scope centered on the maintenance department from 2011 through at least 2018, where a maintenance planning analyst collected stakeholder requirements, managed data across sources, and executed over 15 projects tied to the asset management software. Reporting and analytics from the system fed statistics such as Availability, Reliability, and Mean Time to Repair for equipment types, and supported distribution of maintenance contractor costs to inform procurement and contract discussions. Governance and process work included establishing more than 20 standards and procedures aligned to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, and implementing earned value management to measure project performance in maintenance and procurement workflows. The implementation narrative shows centralized procurement controls inside IBM Maximo - Purchase Module, project-level purchasing oversight, and structured audit and reporting practices used by maintenance and procurement stakeholders. | |
