BlueGrace Logistics Transportation 600 $130M United States Descartes Systems Descartes MacroPoint Real-Time Transportation Visibility 2017 n/a In 2017, BlueGrace Logistics deployed Descartes MacroPoint to deliver end-to-end supply chain visibility for expedited freight operations. The implementation targeted Real-Time Transportation Visibility across van, semi and domestic air movements and provided a single portal for BlueGrace, its carrier network and its shipper customers. The Descartes MacroPoint platform was positioned to centralize load status monitoring and reduce manual status checks. Functionally, Descartes MacroPoint provided continuous load status updates, geolocation based visibility and automated check call capabilities to enable 24 hour status access. BlueGrace used the Descartes MacroPoint application to monitor movement by mode and to consolidate visibility workflows for the expedited team. The system delivered automated alerts and status feeds in place of load by load manual check calls. The deployment was integrated with BlueGrace's MercuryGate TMS to surface tracking and status within existing transportation workflows. Being a cloud based solution, Descartes MacroPoint facilitated collaboration across operations staff in Tampa and division management in Cedar Rapids, IA, and supported an expedited team handling 25 to 30 shipments per day, or approximately 4,000 shipments annually. Within a year the division using the platform grew by 350 percent, mirroring the same hyper growth experienced by the company. Operational governance shifted toward proactive exception management, with staff using the Descartes MacroPoint portal to provide frequent, detailed customer updates and to avoid staffing a third shift for manual check calls. BlueGrace applied the Real-Time Transportation Visibility capability across shippers including airline parts, automotive components, consumer packaged goods, construction deliveries and food distribution, enabling simplified expedited freight workflows. According to company statements, Descartes MacroPoint became a critical tool to increase productivity and save costs across the supply chain.
