Apps Purchases: 10+ Million Software Purchases
Founded in 2010, APPS RUN THE WORLD is a leading technology intelligence and market-research company devoted to the application space. Leveraging a rigorous data-centric research methodology, we ask the simple B2B sales intelligence question: Who’s buying enterprise applications from whom and why?
Our global team of 50 researchers has been studying the digital transformation initiatives being undertaken by 2 million + companies including technographic segmentation of 10 million ERP, EPM, CRM, HCM, Procurement, SCM, Treasury software purchases, aggregating massive amounts of data points that form the basis of our forecast assumptions and perhaps the rise and fall of certain vendors and their products on a quarterly basis.
Apps Run The World Buyer Insight and Technographics Customer Database has over 100 data fields that detail company usage of emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, Autonomous Database, and different on-prem and cloud apps by function, customer size (employees, revenues), industry, country, implementation status, year deal won, partner involvement, Line of Business Key Stakeholders and key decision-makers contact details, including the systems being used by Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 companies.

General Dynamics | Aerospace and Defense | 110000 | $47.7B | United States | Ansys Inc. | ANSYS SIwave | Signal Integrity | 2022 | n/a |
In 2022, General Dynamics deployed ANSYS SIwave to support electromagnetic simulation workflows for its Ordnance and Tactical Systems engineering teams including staff in Bothell, WA. ANSYS SIwave was brought into electrical and systems engineering processes as a purpose built ANSYS SIwave Electromagnetic, Circuit and System Simulation tool to address PCB and package level electromagnetic, signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI analysis needs.
The implementation focused on applying ANSYS SIwave capabilities for 3D field solver extraction, board and package modeling, transmission line and connector analysis, and power distribution network evaluation. Engineers used ANSYS SIwave results to inform CCA schematic capture and layout reviews, high speed serial interface validation, and verification planning for Design Verification Tests and acceptance testing documented in engineering records.
Operationally the ANSYS SIwave deployment was embedded in requirements definition and verification workflows used by electrical engineers and systems engineers responsible for mixed signal circuit card assemblies, embedded processing, and telemetry subsystems. The tool was used as an engineering validation layer for EMC and power budget requirements, for Design for Manufacturing reviews of CCAs, and as input into root cause analysis and test procedure development that drive prototype and production verification activities.

General Dynamics | Aerospace and Defense | 110000 | $47.7B | United States | Aras | Aras PLM Platform | Product Lifecycle Management | 2017 | n/a |
In 2017 General Dynamics deployed the Aras PLM Platform within General Dynamics Mission Systems to support hardware and mechanical systems engineering. The deployment used ARAS Innovator configurations to establish Product Lifecycle Management capabilities focused on engineering process automation, CAD integration and formal engineering change control.
The implementation emphasized functional modules for engineering change management, CAD data management, automated engineering workflows and configuration control to manage mechanical designs and associated artifacts. Aras PLM Platform was configured to capture engineering change requests, route approvals, and enforce versioned item records consistent with Product Lifecycle Management practices.
Integrations centered on bi-directional CAD integration with mechanical design tools to maintain synchronized CAD files and metadata, and on consolidating engineering artifacts within a centralized PLM environment for General Dynamics Mission Systems hardware teams. Operational coverage was concentrated on Hardware and Mechanical Systems Engineering in Orlando, Florida, extending PLM governance across design, change control, and document management processes.
Governance and process restructuring included formalized engineering change control workflows, role based access and approval routing, and automation of routine engineering processes to reduce manual handoffs. The rollout narrative is anchored to ongoing PLM development and implementation activities led by hardware systems engineering staff beginning in July 2017, reflecting sustained configuration and process ownership within the engineering function.
