Gemlux | Manufacturing | 30 | $3M | United States | ICS, Inc | ICS RF SMART | Inventory Management | 2018 | n/a | In 2018, Gemlux implemented ICS RF SMART. ICS RF SMART Inventory Management was deployed as a native integration with NetSuite and went live the day Gemlux opened its new larger warehouse, addressing an environment that previously lacked a formal warehouse management system. The implementation configured core Inventory Management modules including putaway replenishment, preferred bins, assembly work for light manufacturing, sales order picking, shipping, receiving, and cycle counting. RF-SMART Pick Planner and RF-SMART Automation were activated to orchestrate wave and batch picking, route pickers for efficiency, and eliminate paper picking workflows. The deployment emphasized standard picking strategies and preferred-bin logic to enforce consistent task completion and inventory accuracy. Integrations centered on the native NetSuite connection and an automation link between RF-SMART Automation and a vertical lift machine VLM, enabling real-time updates from automated storage and retrieval into NetSuite. Gemlux added a NetSuite customization to trigger inventory label printing after build completion, which is invoked from RF-SMART records, preserving transaction integrity across build and inventory flows. Pick Planner was configured to create multi-task pick plans that split orders across rack picks and VLM picks to parallelize work. Operational scope covered warehouse operations and light manufacturing workflows, with governance changes to remove paper tickets and standardize picking and cycle count cadences. Cycle counting was configured to run targeted counts of rack subsections on scheduled days, avoiding full shutdown physical inventories and embedding count tasks into regular warehouse operations. Process controls were applied to ensure users complete RF-SMART tasks in sequence, improving inventory record discipline. The go-live and subsequent usage produced measurable operational outcomes stated by Gemlux, including roughly 30 to 40 percent increases in warehouse efficiency, a reduction in pick times from 3 minutes to 1 minute, a 23 percent increase in line items shipped, and an 18 percent increase in packages shipped, while enabling Gemlux to process about 30 percent more product through the warehouse with the same staffing levels. | |
