In 2023, Air France engaged Alluvion to integrate SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance with SAP Master Data Governance, deploying SAP Ariba as the Procurement application to centralize supplier management and governance. The program targeted the supplier lifecycle, onboarding, and master data synchronization to streamline supplier registration and maintain a single source of truth for supplier information.
The implementation used SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance for supplier registration, self service profile management, risk and compliance assessment, and performance evaluation, while SAP MDG-Supplier provided MDG Central Governance and MDG Consolidation and Mass Processing for master data control. Alluvion focused primarily on the MDG portion, configuring consolidation and mass processing scenarios, and enabling MDG Central Governance access via NetWeaver Business Client and Fiori where appropriate.
Integration architecture connected the cloud based SAP Ariba SLP to SAP MDG via web services, with key mapping implemented to link the Ariba supplier record to the MDG Business Partner object. The integration flow supported two scenarios, an initial synchronization that triggered an MDG Consolidation process with duplicate checks using matching rules such as address, name, and identification numbers and optional extensions for tax numbers and D and B numbers, and an already synchronized scenario that created an MDG Change Request directly. Best Record calculation rules were defined to resolve conflicting attributes including bank data, a dedicated MDG Change Request was created for consolidation activations, and upon approval and activation supplier data was replicated back to SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance.
Governance was enforced through MDG approval workflows, including a three step change request approval sequence, and operational coverage emphasized procurement and master data governance functions. The engagement documented cleansing scenarios and approval routing, and sought to bolster efficiency and streamline operations in supplier management through the combined SAP Ariba and SAP MDG architecture.

In 2023, Air France implemented SAP Master Data Management as part of a Master Data Management initiative to integrate SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance with SAP MDG. The deployment targeted centralized supplier master data governance to support supplier registration, profile synchronization, and supplier-related workflows within procurement and supplier management functions.
The implementation leveraged SAP MDG Central Governance and SAP MDG Consolidation and Mass Processing modules, with user access via NetWeaver Business Client and the SAP Fiori Launchpad. Configuration included change request orchestration for supplier creation and updates, consolidation matching rules for deduplication using address name and identification fields, and Best Record calculation rules to resolve conflicting attributes such as bank data.
Integration between SAP Ariba SLP and SAP MDG was implemented via web services and a key mapping layer that linked Ariba supplier records to MDG Business Partner objects. In common process flows, Ariba SLP questionnaire submissions trigger synchronization to SAP MDG where initial synchronization invokes the MDG Consolidation flow for duplicate checking and potential merges, while updates to already synchronized suppliers create MDG Change Requests that require approval before replication back to Ariba SLP and activation in both systems.
The systems integrator Alluvion assisted with the MDG-focused aspects of the project and the rollout emphasized governance through a three step change request approval workflow and explicit rules for record prioritization. The implementation covered supplier lifecycle management, procurement, and compliance workflows and was described by project stakeholders as an effort to bolster efficiency and streamline operations in supplier management.
