In 2019, WWZ Energie began implementation of SAP Marketing Cloud as part of a strategic program to digitalize customer-facing processes and prepare for electricity market liberalization. The SAP Marketing Cloud deployment was executed alongside a core SAP S/4HANA ERP conversion and simultaneous roll-out of SAP Sales Cloud and SAP SuccessFactors, with Innflow as the implementation partner.
The SAP Marketing Cloud implementation focused on Marketing Automation capabilities, delivering customer segmentation, campaign management, multi-channel orchestration, and consolidated customer profiling to enable a 360 degree view across energy, telecommunications, electromobility and water business areas. Configuration work emphasized centralized master data usage and consent and preference handling to align marketing engagements with regulatory and customer-service objectives.
Integrations were implemented directly into the new SAP S/4HANA system landscape and synchronized with SAP Sales Cloud and SAP SuccessFactors, enabling lead handoff from marketing to sales and alignment of customer records with HR and billing processes. The integration scope covered cross-departmental operational coverage across commercial, telecommunications and sales teams, aiming to unify customer data and simplify campaign-to-order workflows.
Governance for the program was organized as a company-wide transformation, with top management sponsorship, regular transparent communications to keep departments engaged, and a blended team of internal and external resources. One hundred and fifty internal and external project employees supported the initiative, culminating in a coordinated go-live of the integrated systems on January 1, 2021, as part of WWZ Energie's largest transformation in its history.
