In 2017, Granules India implemented SAP S/4 HANA as an ERP Financial solution. The S/4 HANA deployment was delivered by IBM Services and hosted at the company headquarters in Hyderabad on IBM Power Systems S822L running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications.
The implementation centralized core financial and managerial accounting capabilities, with configuration focused on product costing, cost of goods sold visibility, margin and profitability reporting at the product and plant level, ledger consolidation, accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows, and cash management. SAP S/4 HANA was configured to provide fast operational reporting and real time financial insights to support decision making across manufacturing finance and commercial functions.
Operational coverage extended across Granules India’s eight manufacturing sites and commercial operations serving customers in over 75 countries, with the ERP Financial solution linked to plant production and procurement data to attribute costs and margins to specific facilities and product lines. Integrations were implemented to capture site level cost inputs and sales order flows, enabling consolidated financial reporting and profitability analysis across regions and facilities.
The technical architecture used IBM PowerVM virtualization and IBM Power Systems hardware, with storage provided by IBM Storwize V3700, and the stack managed by IBM Global Business Services. The application environment ran on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications, and IBM Services led the rollout and ongoing operations, applying phased deployment across sites and central governance for financial process controls and master data management.
Results reported from the SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial implementation included three times greater compute density on IBM Power Systems and enhanced decision making through deeper cost and margin visibility, and the company recorded 25 percent business growth within 24 months following the deployment.
