London Stansted Airport | Transportation | 1500 | $240M | United Kingdom | SAP | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | 2021 |
In 2021 Manchester Airports Group (MAG), the operator of London Stansted Airport, selected SAP S/4 HANA as its new application (Apps Category: ERP Financial) to replace a legacy ERP as part of a technology programme dubbed Project Build Back Smarter. MAG opted to deploy S/4 HANA via SAP’s Rise offering on Amazon Web Services; the implementation began in 2021 and the group went live on Rise in March 2022.
The first phase was executed as a lift-and-shift of MAG’s existing SAP ECC estate into S/4 HANA on AWS using the Rise managed-cloud and managed-services contract. The deployment is scoped across MAG’s three airports, including London Stansted, and is intended as a five-year transformation that will extend S/4 core financials with integrations for procurement (SAP Ariba) and HR (SAP SuccessFactors). Rise is listed as the delivery vehicle; operational emphasis is on standardizing and cloud-enabling core ERP functions to increase agility, automation and insight while addressing HR challenges such as reduced staffing from furloughs.
