In 2021, Bergzeit implemented Workday Adaptive Planning (ex Adaptive Insights) as its EPM solution for Controlling, engaging implementation partner Sereviso to configure the cloud deployment. The project was scoped to address planning, budgeting, forecasting, and consolidation pain points encountered across finance and commercial planning workflows at the outdoor sports online retailer.
Workday Adaptive Planning was configured to centralize budgeting and forecasting, deliver driver based scenario modeling, and automate multi version consolidation. The implementation emphasized functional modules for budgeting, rolling and quarterly forecasting, scenario planning and consolidated reporting, with the full application name Workday Adaptive Planning (ex Adaptive Insights) used as the single planning source of truth.
The deployment used a cloud based architecture to eliminate server hosted processing and to speed version closes, enabling cross functional inputs from Controlling and managers across sales and expense areas. Integrations were limited to process orchestration and data collection from team level inputs rather than heavy application to application interfaces, enabling faster first results after each planning cycle.
Governance and process changes focused on eliminating manual spreadsheet consolidation and instituting version controls and driver based change management, shifting discussions from reconciliation to content review. The move shortened the planning cycle, supported a shift to quarterly forecasting and accelerated scenario analysis during volatile market conditions, and was described internally as creating a "second Controlling employee" by the team lead of Controlling, reflecting materially reduced manual consolidation effort and faster access to consolidated plans.
