In 2013, Pfizer implemented AppWorx Workload Automation in a Business Process Management role to orchestrate batch processing and ETL workloads across Managed Markets applications. The deployment engaged Sturgeon Services International, Inc. as the system integrator, with Accenture Services Pvt. Ltd. providing onshore coordinator, developer and designer support beginning September 2014 for ongoing operations and handovers.
AppWorx Workload Automation was configured to schedule and orchestrate ETL jobs, batch workflows and report generation. Functional capabilities implemented included job scheduling, dependency orchestration, calendar management, automated recovery and environment-aware runbooks used to coordinate Informatica 9.x ETL pipelines, Oracle 10g/11g database jobs, UNIX shell script executions and Business Objects reporting, with UC4 also present for time-based job definitions.
The automation layer integrated with Master Data Management, Advance Membership and Contracts applications within the Managed Markets domain to ingest and validate DEA, HIN and PHS identifiers, direct and indirect customer records, product and price feeds, and to support Chargeback and Rebates calculation and validation processes. AppWorx Workload Automation triggered ETL pipelines and Business Objects report production that fed downstream contract validation and pricing workflows.
Operational governance formalized Incident Management, Request Management, Change Management, Problem Management and Knowledge Management processes, with HP Service Center used for ticketing and coordinated onshore/offshore handovers to enable near continuous support. Project controls included PMO and SME responsibilities for impact analysis, estimation, technical design review, peer review, unit testing and controlled production releases, and disaster recovery environments were built and tested by mocking production to validate job recovery and hot fix procedures.
