In 2014, ADVA implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its core ERP Financial system, establishing the subsidiary as the host for group accounting and core finance processes. ADVA Optical Networking SE is a multinational provider of fiber optic transmission technology, and the ECC installation served as the transactional finance backbone prior to acquisition by Adtran in 2022.
Following the 2022 acquisition and a detailed pre-study, GAMBIT introduced SAP Central Finance and SAP Group Reporting to ADVA, with Central Finance deployed to replicate and harmonize accounting documents into an SAP S/4HANA target layer in near real time. SAP Group Reporting was implemented as the consolidation and statutory reporting engine, enabling integrated processing of accounting documents and the ability to meet multiple reporting standards including US GAAP.
The implementation scope focused on finance and controlling capabilities, covering document replication, harmonization to a unified target organization, ledger and functional currency alignment, and inventory valuation reconciliation between the parent and subsidiary entities. SAP Central Finance provided a Finance First pathway into SAP S/4HANA, while SAP Group Reporting provided consolidation functionality that consumes posted transactional data from the ECC and the Central Finance S/4HANA target.
Governance and rollout followed a strict timeline driven by the need to deliver joint financial statements, with go-live for Finance for Group Reporting and the Central Finance integration achieved September 1, 2023. The combined architecture enabled the parent company to move into the subsidiary SAP ERP ECC 6.0 environment and consolidate on a common reporting platform, establishing a clear first step toward a future SAP S/4HANA migration while giving finance teams early exposure to S/4HANA processes.
