Support teams troubleshoot expense reporting with DSMs using Concur, and the implementation emphasized user-level troubleshooting workflows and approver escalation paths to resolve exceptions.
Operational scope included finance operations and sales field users, with governance centered on expense policy enforcement, approver role definitions and support processes for DSMs and controllers. In 2016 Aviall implemented MicroStrategy ONE Analytics to establish Analytics and BI capabilities within its enterprise data warehouse and support business analyst reporting requirements. The engagement included gathering business requirements and documenting specifications to align MicroStrategy ONE Analytics with Aviall business functions for reporting and dashboarding.
Implementation work centered on logical schema design in MicroStrategy and heavy use of the Architect and MicroStrategy Desktop. Teams built Filters, Consolidations, transformations and Custom Group objects, designed attributes and hierarchies, and implemented metrics and schema objects with Prompts to meet analyst needs. Reporting artifacts included Canned Reports, Ad hoc reports, Free form reports and Transaction reports, while visualization work produced Dynamic Dashboards, Documents and Mobile Dashboards using Panel Stacks, Bubble Grid, Heat Maps, Data Cloud Widgets and Time Series widgets.
The deployment leveraged MicroStrategy 9.4 components including Administrator, Web, Desktop, Narrowcast Server, Object Manager, Enterprise Manager and Report Services, with SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2012 as database platforms and Microsoft Excel 2010 for reporting export and data interchange. Document Caches and Intelligent Cube reports were used to improve dashboard performance, and schedules were configured for reporting objects along with cache clearing and Intelligent Cube refresh operations.
Governance and operational tasks were embedded in an enterprise data warehouse team environment, with administration responsibilities for creating Users, defining Security Roles and assigning access rights. Command Manager was used to provision users and assign privileges, while performance administration covered tuning, caching, query governing settings and report optimization to maintain stable Analytics and BI delivery.
