In 2006, Burton Snowboards implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 in an environment coexisting with AFS 6 and CRM V5.0. SAP ERP ECC 6.0 was deployed as the companys ERP Financial backbone, supporting FI/CO financial processes while interfacing with SD and MM transactional workflows.
The implementation included functional work across CRM, FI/CO, SD and MM, with detailed ABAP design and development to support reporting and order processing requirements. Technical deliverables included creation of an ABAP proxy object to provision users in CRM, development of an object for Order processing, addition of custom fields to table BUT0BK and modification of the standard BAPI to accommodate those changes.
Integration work emphasized the integrated SAP stack, connecting SAP ERP ECC 6.0 with AFS 6 and CRM V5.0 to support finance, sales and materials management processes. Operational coverage extended to daily support through a ticketing system, close engagement with business users and the functional team to clarify requirements, and ongoing development of reports and fixes across modules.
Governance and delivery followed a functional specifications driven approach, producing technical specifications, ALV drill down reports for BOMs and delivery lines, a custom aging report with front end download capability, and enhancements to order and material value reports. Data feeds were provisioned to supply Marketing with sales and order status reporting, reflecting the role of Infor M3 in unified order management and fulfillment. The implementation also formalized regional order management processes to maximize fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
Governance and rollout emphasized team management, training and mentoring of inventory and business analysts to operationalize the new platform, with a business analyst playing a pivotal role in the migration from SAP to Infor M3.
