| SAP | Legacy | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017 De Montfort University implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its ERP Financial system to standardize core administrative and financial processes. The deployment is based on ECC 6.0 EHP 7 with Fiori introduced for modernized user interaction across transactional screens and self-service workflows.
Functional coverage centers on SAP ERP ECC 6.0 modules, including FI and CO for financial accounting and controlling, HCM for HR processes, SD for sales and billing, PS for project services, MM for procurement, and SLCM for student lifecycle management. BW is used as the reporting and analytics layer, while C4C, BILP, and BICMC are present as connected SAP solutions supporting customer engagement and cloud services.
Integrations span ECC core to BW and SAP cloud components, enabling finance, HR, procurement, student administration, and sales functions to share transactional and analytical data. The architecture signals a mixed on-premises ECC backbone with Fiori front-end and hybrid connections to SAP cloud modules, aligning operational workflows across university departments.
Governance and operational control are led by a SAP Security Team Manager who heads all SAP security solutions across the entire landscape, implementing centralized authorization design, role management, and cross-system security governance. This approach ties SAP ERP ECC 6.0 configuration to institutional controls for finance and HR business functions, and supports ongoing maintenance of security and access policies.

| SAP | SAP HCM (HR) | SAP S/4 HANA HCM | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2016 | 2016 |
In 2016, De Montfort University implemented SAP S/4 HANA HCM as its Core HR application, replacing SAP HCM (HR). The deployment targeted central HR functions supporting approximately 1,771 employees, and focused on consolidating personnel administration and employee lifecycle management into a single SAP S/4 HANA HCM environment.
The implementation configured Core HR capabilities consistent with SAP S/4 HANA HCM, including personnel administration, organizational management, payroll interfacing, and time management workflows. The project used SAP Fiori for user experience modernization and leveraged BW and the BILP BICMC layers for operational reporting and analytics.
SAP S/4 HANA HCM was integrated into an existing ECC 6.0 EHP 7 landscape and connected with FI and CO for financial posting and cost allocations, with SD MM and PS for cross-functional transaction awareness. Integrations extended to SLCM to align staff records with student lifecycle processes, and to C4C for CRM touchpoints, preserving end to end data flows across HR and adjacent administrative systems.
Governance and security were centralized under the SAP Security Team Manager who led SAP security solutions across the entire landscape, establishing role design and authorization controls and coordinating user provisioning. Rollout and operational ownership were aligned across HR and finance teams to support payroll and core HR operations while maintaining centralized security oversight.
