In 2014 Dupaco Community Credit Union converted all loans to Finastra Phoenix EFE as its Core Banking system, executing a structured implementation that placed year one emphasis on data mapping and parameter configuration. The Finastra Phoenix EFE project included defining and configuring new system parameters, mapping loan products and daily processes, and facilitating mock conversions to onboard acquired credit unions into a unified core ledger and servicing environment.
The deployment emphasized core loan servicing and workflow orchestration, with explicit work on loan mapping, core nightly batch processing, and Phoenix workflow automation. Dupaco created a Phoenix Workflow Department to institutionalize process improvement around core applications, and automated Core Nightly Processing which eliminated the need for an individual to monitor nightly runs.
Implementation activity ran alongside selection and rollout of adjacent lending systems, with Sync1 Systems deployed for consumer loan origination, Temenos used for collections, and CreditQuest introduced for commercial lending, while all loan records were converted into the Finastra Phoenix EFE environment. Reporting and data integration work included co founding a data governance committee, establishing a data warehouse, and building dashboards and financial reporting using SSRS, Logi Analytics, Power BI, and JMP to surface Phoenix EFE data across finance and lending teams.
Governance and operational changes accompanied the technical build, including creation of defined IT roles such as System Analysts as subject matter experts, an IT Support Specialist team as second tier escalation, and a dedicated helpdesk to support core operations. The implementation also initiated predictive analytics efforts and formalized reporting and data stewardship practices to support ongoing Core Banking operations and future conversions.
