In 2019, Eneco implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial system. The deployment targeted Group Control and corporate Finance to standardize monthly reporting, the Planning & Control cycle and group-level internal controls across the Eneco organization.
SAP S/4 HANA was configured to support core financial modules including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting and controlling functions to enable consolidated financial close and operational cost analysis. The implementation explicitly pairs SAP S/4 HANA with SAP Analytics Cloud for a redesigned reporting layer, with all reports being rebuilt to modern standards to provide expanded insight for the Board of Management and the supervisory board.
Operational coverage centered on Group Control in Rotterdam and extended to Business Unit controllers, staff functions such as corporate strategy and treasury, and finance teams responsible for IT and other overhead. Integrations emphasized finance-to-reporting workflows between SAP S/4 HANA and SAP Analytics Cloud, and the solution was used to collect standardized inputs from business units to feed the monthly management packs and ad hoc analyses.
Governance and process changes were driven by Group Control, which led report design, the Planning & Control cycle and the implementation of In Control requirements for internal controls. Corporate Controller responsibilities were explicitly aligned with the new SAP S/4 HANA and SAP Analytics Cloud environment, centering on template and model design, monthly Board reporting and the production of actionable financial analyses for decision makers.

In 2020 Eneco implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as its Core HR system. The initiative targeted Eneco Netherlands and established a centralized employee data model to standardize core HR processes across HR and payroll functions. The program ran from Nov 2020 to Apr 2021 and was managed by an NGA Project lead who had responsibility for payroll implementation.
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central was configured to deliver core HR capabilities including employee master data, organizational management, position management, role based access control and standard Core HR workflows such as hire to retire and absence management. Configuration work prioritized data model alignment and security roles to ensure consistent HR records feeding downstream payroll processes.
The project included an explicit integration between SuccessFactors Employee Central and NGA payroll, described in project notes as SuccessFactors EC to NGA payroll integration on SAP, to transmit payroll relevant employee records for payroll calculation. Governance and program ownership rested with the NGA Project lead for Eneco Netherlands who coordinated integration testing, payroll interface validation and the six month deployment activities.

In 2018 Eneco implemented UiPath Process Mining as a Process Mining solution to analyze onboarding, smart meter delivery and maintenance workflows. The engagement targeted operational improvements in customer contact handling and field service, with explicit goals to reduce unnecessary customer phone calls by 1% and to increase First Time Right by 1%.
The implementation used the ProcessGold Platform alongside UiPath Process Mining capabilities to perform event log ingestion, process variant analysis and bottleneck identification. Configuration focused on sequence and timestamp analysis to surface rework loops and handoff points, employing standard process mining techniques such as variant clustering and throughput diagnostics to prioritize remediation opportunities.
Operational scope covered onboarding and the delivery process for smart meters, plus maintenance processes that intersect with customer service and field operations. The effort directly impacted contact center workflows and field maintenance teams, enabling analysts to trace case lifecycles from initiation through closure and to identify sources of repeat calls and failed first time resolutions.
Results reported from the ProcessGold analysis indicated a feasible reduction in customer phone calls between a minimum of 2.8 percent and a maximum of 25.1 percent, exceeding the original 1 percent target, and a potential First Time Right improvement up to 7.7 percent. Eneco is progressing from diagnostic discovery to iterative process improvement based on the UiPath Process Mining insights, embedding continuous monitoring of identified variants and remediation paths.
