| SAP | Oracle E-Business Suite | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | Capgemini | 2017 | 2018 |
In 2017, Energinet implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial solution, consolidating group financial systems that included Oracle E-Business Suite instances and migrating SAP ECC elements into a unified platform with Capgemini as the systems integrator. The deployment targeted group financial management across Energinet and newly established subsidiaries, expanding operational company codes from 3 to 18 as part of a broader reorganization and group formation effort.
The implementation configured core finance and shared services modules, including creditor and debtor management, VAT and taxes, travel settlement, master data governance, consolidation and year-end closing, transfer pricing, budget and forecast process, management reporting, and compliance. Financial project controlling and financial management of construction projects were included to support portfolio oversight, and HR salary and specialist center processes such as new hire master data, payroll accuracy, holiday accounts, wage adjustment, and employment contract administration were aligned with the ERP Financial instance.
Operational coverage encompassed the shared service organization led by a group senior director with responsibility for five managers, eighty employees and a DKK 120 million cost base, and extended to facility service operations across eight locations. The SAP S/4 HANA implementation was configured to support Energinet’s settlement workflows that obtain company revenue from trading companies within the Danish electricity and gas market, and to consolidate financial reporting across subsidiaries for transfer pricing and group consolidation.
Governance and process transformation accompanied the technical rollout, with reorganization and new governance structures, well defined and documented standard operating procedures with dedicated process ownership, and automation of administrative processes. Operational practices introduced during the rollout included Kanban boards with daily morning meetings, and reported outcomes include an increase in operational company codes from 3 to 18 and high employee satisfaction scores of 78 for job satisfaction and a managerial score of 85 as recorded in internal assessments.

In 2022, Energinet deployed Hitachi Lumada APM formerly ABB Power Grids Digital Enterprise under its MIMER digitalization programme to enable data driven asset performance, risk based maintenance and reinvestment prioritization for Denmark's transmission grid. The selection announced in September 2022 positioned Hitachi Lumada APM as the core platform for Asset Performance Management across transmission assets.
The implementation centers on sensor telemetry ingestion and analytics to support predictive maintenance and capital planning workflows. Hitachi Lumada APM was configured to generate asset health indicators, risk scoring and time horizon based reinvestment prioritization, combined with analytics and failure risk modeling and condition monitoring. These functional capabilities map to Asset Performance Management processes including asset condition assessment, maintenance scheduling and long term capital allocation.
Operational coverage focuses on Denmark's transmission grid and supports grid operations, asset management and capital planning teams within Energinet. The deployment ingests sensor telemetry from field equipment and applies analytics pipelines to transform raw measurements into condition insights and maintenance triggers. Those outputs are consumed by risk based maintenance prioritization and reinvestment planning processes for transmission assets.
Governance and rollout were managed through Energinet's MIMER programme with the platform announcement in September 2022, aligning program governance to Asset Performance Management objectives. The implementation uses Hitachi Lumada APM to deliver data driven asset performance and to improve predictive maintenance, capital planning and reduce unplanned outages through sensor telemetry and analytics.
