In 2023, Fender implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as a strategic upgrade and re-platforming to SAP Suite on HANA hosted on AWS, aligning the deployment with its ERP Financial requirements. The initiative targeted Fender Musical Instruments Corp.s manufacturing and finance operations to improve system reliability, scalability, security, and flexibility across core transactional workflows.
The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 deployment focused on core ERP Financial capabilities, including financial accounting and controlling, general ledger processing, accounts payable and receivable flows, and asset accounting, with configuration tuned to leverage in-memory processing on Suite on HANA. System configuration emphasized transactional throughput and batch processing reliability consistent with SAP ERP Financial functional patterns, while preserving standard SAP ECC module relationships and master data models.
Architecturally the environment was re-platformed to SAP Suite on HANA running on AWS cloud infrastructure, shifting database and application hosting to a cloud-first topology to improve performance and operational elasticity. Fender partnered with Lemongrass to execute the migration and performance tuning, using multiple practice runs to validate cutover procedures, reduce downtime risk, and stabilize the production footprint, with Lemongrass continuing as Fender's Managed Service Provider for SAP.
Governance and rollout incorporated repeated practice cutovers and operational readiness checks to limit business disruption, and the program explicitly reported significant performance improvements on AWS that enabled greater efficiency and productivity for business users. The implementation preserves SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as the companys ERP Financial backbone while embedding cloud operational practices and a managed support model for ongoing operations.
