In 2014, JSW implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as the core ERP Financial application across its group companies, initiating a multi-project program covering Steel, Cement, Infra, Energy and a US pipeline project. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 deployment ran in concert with SAP SCM, BI, PI and HCM with Enterprise Portal components to establish an integrated application landscape for finance, supply chain and HR operations.
The implementation scope emphasized end to end lifecycle activities, including requirements gathering, system landscape definition, configuration, go-live and post go-live production support. Teams designed and configured SAP ERP ECC 6.0 functional capabilities aligned to financial accounting and controlling while coordinating SAP SCM and HCM touchpoints to support transactional and master data flows.
Security and technical integration were focal points, with an explicit SAP Security approach designed across ECC, APO, BW, BO, PI and HCM components. SAP PI was used to orchestrate cross-system interfaces and the project documentation captured landscape topology and interface contracts to support integrated BI reporting and supply chain planning scenarios.
Governance for the program formalized role design, segregation of duties controls and a centralized security model to manage access across SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and adjacent SAP components. Operational ownership covered go-live and sustained production support processes, reflecting the program s emphasis on controlled release cycles and ongoing security administration.

In 2019, JSW migrated from SAP HCM to Darwinbox Core HR. The Darwinbox Core HR deployment centralized HR management and talent processes for the JSW Steel Salem unit, while a JSW Group core team designed and validated new processes for broader rollouts across the organization.
Configuration focused on talent management, workforce planning and organizational development, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation and benefits, learning and development, and statutory compliance modules. Implementation work emphasized workflow-driven automation, stabilization of Darwinbox modules, and digitalization of competency and skill development processes to replace manual activities.
Integrations connected Darwinbox Core HR to plant-level security and operational systems, explicitly including a facial recognition system implemented at the Salem plant and a workflow-based gate pass system for a contract workforce exceeding 6000 workers. The rollout included data synchronization to the contract workforce management system CWMS to ensure annual wage revisions and contract worker records were applied consistently alongside payroll and HR records.
Governance and process restructuring were executed through an Integrated Management System for HR and institutionalization of total quality management practices, with centralized HR process ownership and audit readiness. The HR team prepared for and passed the Deming Examination and JSW Steel was awarded the Deming Prize in 2019, reflecting documented quality and process discipline concurrent with the Darwinbox Core HR implementation.

In 2018, JSW implemented SAP Enterprise Asset Management to centralize plant maintenance and asset lifecycle processes across its manufacturing sites. The SAP Enterprise Asset Management deployment was provisioned within an ECC 6.0 technical environment, aligning asset master data and preventive maintenance strategies under the Enterprise Asset Management category.
Configuration and functional work focused on plant maintenance and preventive maintenance PM workflows, work order management, and dashboarding for PM user communities. Consultants executed configuration updates and enhancements via formal change management processes, performed initial testing of problem corrections and new functionality, and provided ongoing program development consultation to development resources.
Operational support responsibilities included incident management to restore SAP system availability, coordination with ABAP developers and L2 and L3 support resources, and the use of standard change management tools to move application changes through a multi-tiered environment. Functional staff recommended OSS note implementations for SAP standard issues and performed timely analysis, qualification, and resolution of incoming support requests.
Governance activities centered on establishing plant level PM usage standards, anchoring end-user and manager training, preparing dashboards for the PM EAM user community, and presenting usage information to management to improve plant maintenance usage. Support scope covered SAP EAM initiatives and ongoing user support across the organization, with coordination for change requests and escalation paths for technical and functional incidents.
