In 2011, KG Mobility implemented VectorCAST as a Test Automation Platform to support a newly formed functional safety response taskforce and to meet ISO 26262 testing requirements. The implementation was driven by a need to pair automated dynamic testing with an existing static analysis tool to satisfy Part 6 requirements for software development testing and structural coverage measurement.
The VectorCAST Test Automation Platform was configured to provide unit testing, system level testing, and structural coverage analysis, with attention to compiler and target fidelity so that test execution could occur on production hardware. KG Mobility used the VectorCAST IEC Certification Kit to assemble certification artifacts, templates, tool qualification documentation, and application-specific verification workflows to support compliance on safety-critical projects.
VectorCAST was integrated with the existing PRQA QA∙C static analysis workflow to combine MISRA and static verification with dynamic test and coverage evidence, enabling verification of supplier-delivered software and integration-level component testing. Operational ownership centered on the functional safety taskforce and development teams, with testing applied to supplier components as they were integrated into the complete vehicle software architecture.
Governance relied on the certification kit and associated TÜV SÜD Rail GmbH certificates and reports to document verification workflows and tool qualification, creating an auditable path toward IEC and ISO 26262 evidence. The combined VectorCAST and QA∙C solution improved developer efficiency and raised software quality, and it provided KG Mobility with a completed testing system capable of verifying ISO 26262 compliance for components and supplier deliveries.
