In 2010 Medela implemented QAD Adaptive ERP (ex MFG/PRO) as its Manufacturing ERP. Medela initially selected Oracle in a Tier I ERP selection, the Oracle implementation proved a poor fit after go live and Medela returned to its previous system before restarting the vendor evaluation that led to QAD Adaptive ERP (ex MFG/PRO).
QAD Adaptive ERP (ex MFG/PRO) was configured to address manufacturing operations and end to end process control typical of the Manufacturing ERP category, including production management, inventory and supply chain workflows, quality management and core financial integration. QAD Consulting led a configuration approach that emphasized prescriptive recommendations and best practices, reviewing process inputs and outputs and creating test cases to accelerate cutover and validate configuration choices.
The deployment was executed with QAD Consulting as the implementation partner, enabling direct vendor to customer engagement on functional design and iterative testing. Operational coverage focused on life sciences manufacturing, aligning plant shop floor processes, supply chain planning and quality workflows with enterprise financial and operational processes across Medela s global operations.
Governance and process restructuring were central to the program, with QAD professionals helping Medela streamline end to end processes and implement test case driven validation. Implementation governance prioritized reducing business risk through practical, day to day operational configuration and tight verification of process outputs before production use.
Medela selected QAD Adaptive ERP (ex MFG/PRO) in part because the company judged QAD would provide the required functionality and a lower total cost of ownership, while direct engagement with QAD Consulting was expected to reduce implementation and installation risk and support a successful rollout.
