In 2017 Metso implemented Basware AP Automation to centralize accounts payable across its global manufacturing footprint. The initiative targeted the AP Automation category to standardize invoice intake, enable automated e-invoicing, and consolidate invoice processing across multiple sites and business units.
Basware AP Automation was configured around core accounts payable capabilities typical of the AP Automation category, including electronic invoice capture and normalization, automated invoice validation, configurable approval workflows, and centralized exception handling. The deployment emphasized standardized invoice data models and automated routing to enforce consistent processing rules and reduce local variance in AP handling.
Operational scope covered finance and accounts payable functions across Metso’s global sites, with a central AP operations model coordinating local touchpoints and supplier interactions. Supplier invoice connectivity and e-invoicing formats were implemented to streamline inbound invoices and to support a single, centralized accounts payable control point across business units.
Governance and process changes accompanied the technical rollout, including centralized invoice policies, standardized approval thresholds, and supplier onboarding rules to align global AP processes. Rollout and change management focused on consolidating processes under the Basware AP Automation platform and establishing centralized oversight for invoice processing and exception resolution.

| SAP | Legacy | SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central | Core HR | HCM | NTT Data | 2014 | 2015 |
In 2014, Metso implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as part of the Metso PeoplePoint Program, deploying a cloud-based Core HR platform to modernize HR management across 52 countries. The project consolidated core HR master data and basic HR processes for roughly 14,000 employees, and the modernization was completed in a 10 month rollout that the company reports finished on time and below estimated cost.
The SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central deployment focused on Core HR functionality, delivering a unified employee and supervisor user interface and reducing the number of point tools previously used by supervisors and HR professionals. Built-in integrations were established between Employee Central and SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting and SAP SuccessFactors Succession modules, enabling end-to-end HR process continuity across talent acquisition, succession planning, and core HR master data.
From an architecture perspective, the implementation was delivered as a cloud service with automatic updates, and Employee Central was integrated into five payroll systems plus three additional systems using the SAP HANA Cloud platform. The cloud deployment emphasized a consolidated information system environment and an evergreen application posture, where SuccessFactors updates and new analytics capabilities are delivered as part of the service.
The program engaged implementation partners NTT Data and included support from Pasafin, with the project team leveraging prior collaboration to meet tight schedules and complex integration requirements. Governance and rollout practices centralized HR master data management, streamlined cross-system workflows, and provided a single source of truth for employee personal data that simplified GDPR reporting and employee self-service access.
Explicit outcomes cited by Metso include immediate application and license cost reductions with an estimated system repayment period of six years or three years when alternative development costs are considered, stricter and more cost-effective GDPR compliance, an integrated UI for supervisors and HR, and recognition through the Nordic Quality Awards in the Business Transformation category.

In 2016 Metso deployed Mews Property Management as its customer facing Hotel Property Management solution on the Metso website. The deployment exposed online booking and reservation flows directly through the corporate site, using Mews Property Management as the booking and property control layer.
The implementation focused on core Hotel Property Management capabilities, including reservation engine, front desk operations, rate and inventory management, billing and invoicing, guest profiles, and housekeeping workflows that align with Mews Property Management standard modules. Configuration emphasized web based administration and role based access for front office and operations staff.
Integration surface was primarily the Metso website frontend, where the Mews Property Management booking engine and online booking engine were embedded to provide guest self service and booking confirmations. Operational coverage included reservations, guest services, and facilities or corporate travel teams responsible for on site accommodation management.
Governance centered on centralized configuration, standardizing front office workflows and booking policies within the Mews Property Management admin console, and establishing role based user profiles and access controls for hotel operations and facilities staff. Rollout was web first, with administration and operational processes managed through the cloud hosted Mews Property Management interface.
