SAP SAP ERP ECC 6.0 SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial ERP Financial Management n/a 2021 2022
In 2021, Oesterreichische Nationalbank migrated its SAP ERP application, including the national cash payment system, to SAP S/4 HANA to establish a unified ERP Financial foundation. The migration was driven by requirements for embedded reporting, faster accounting, integrated procurement, and an improved user experience while operating within a maximum downtime window of 48 hours. The SAP S/4 HANA deployment consolidated core financial planning, procurement, accounting, and cash management capabilities, and the program included custom-code migration and a series of test conversions to validate the conversion approach. OeNB planned and began to adopt preconfigured SAP Fiori elements and the ABAP RESTful application programming model to surface intuitive user interfaces and to enable new embedded analytics and reporting functionality within SAP S/4 HANA. The project connected around 60 external systems to the new SAP S/4 HANA environment to support daily balance sheet processing, foreign currency valuations, and high-volume cash transport operations that underpin Austria's cash supply. Business functions impacted included accounting, treasury and cash operations, procurement, and financial planning, while OeNB retained remote expert support through SAP MaxAttention services, including on-call duty services and incident management by a technical quality manager to accelerate critical incident resolution during go-live. Governance followed a step-by-step conversion approach focused on risk mitigation, with multiple test conversions, monitored cutover, and technical oversight to meet the tight conversion timeframe. With the successful go-live of SAP S/4 HANA, OeNB decommissioned a separate supplier relationship management system, simplified the IT landscape, reduced total cost of ownership, and positioned SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial platform while continuing to roll out Fiori based apps and embedded analytics.

SAP Legacy SAP HCM (HR) Core HR HCM n/a 2015 2015
In 2015, Oesterreichische Nationalbank implemented SAP HCM (HR) in a Core HR deployment to consolidate HR processing and provide a structured platform for payroll and personnel management. The bank's HR department comprises four groups with a total of 35 employees, and the IT-HR Services group is responsible for support and further development of SAP HCM (HR). The implementation emphasizes SAP HCM (HR) configuration and customizing, with explicit responsibility for payroll accounting schemes and payroll cycles. The IT-HR Services team delivers second level support, coordinates adjustments to payroll schemes and cycles, and performs proactive analysis of existing SAP HR structures, processes and programs to support redesign and ongoing development. Operational coverage includes HR operations, payroll accounting, billing team interactions, and employee self-service touchpoints, with the IT-HR Services group acting as the interface to internal IT and to external SAP partners. Projects described focus on digitization and consolidation of the SAP HR landscape, which indicates efforts to centralize HR configuration, reduce fragmentation, and standardize payroll and personnel workflows. Governance is organized around a small central support team that handles customizing in SAP HCM (HR), second level escalation, coordination with the billing team, and collaboration with internal IT and external SAP partners. Oesterreichische Nationalbank SAP HCM (HR) Core HR Human Resources implementation is positioned as an operational platform governed by configuration ownership and project-based enhancements rather than a decentralized set of point solutions.

In 2020, Oesterreichische Nationalbank implemented Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud Service. The deployment sits within the bank's Analytics and BI landscape and was targeted to support statistical reporting, data governance, master data management, and bank resolution statistics. Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud Service was configured to deliver centralized reporting and analytics capabilities, including interactive dashboards, ad hoc reporting, data modeling and a metadata layer to standardize definitions used by statistical teams. The implementation emphasized data governance and master data controls to ensure consistent statistical outputs and to underpin bank resolution statistics workflows.
