| SAP | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019, United States Department of Justice implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial backbone through a Greenfield conversion from SAP ERP ECC 6.0. The program focused on moving HCM applications into SAP S/4 HANA and establishing a new system architecture rather than an upgrade in place.
The implementation delivered core HCM and payroll capabilities, with design, build and deploy programs to upload Organizational Data, HCM master data for 20 infotypes, and payroll results. Workstreams included configuration in PA, dynamic actions, and payroll rules, and a targeted enhancement for PA40 and PA30 transaction processing to support personnel administration flows.
Functional continuity was addressed by bringing in-house built custom programs from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 into SAP S/4 HANA and adapting them to the new application landscape. The team also maintained and updated custom SAP Adobe Forms to support personnel documentation and payroll output requirements.
Project governance followed standard testing gates, with team participation in Unit Tests, Mock Tests, Integration Tests and Production Tests ahead of deployment. Teams investigated inconsistencies and provided solutions so that SAP S/4 HANA applications remained consistent with behavior and data models previously observed in SAP ERP ECC 6.0.
Operational scope centered on human resources and payroll business functions within the United States Department of Justice, with SAP S/4 HANA supporting both HR and financial posting workflows. United States Department of Justice SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial workstreams combined organizational data management, master data processing, payroll posting, and form maintenance as core implementation signals.
