In 2018, Clark State Community College deployed Alert Beacon as part of a campus wide Emergency Mass Notification program across its multi campus environment. Duffee implemented Alertus Desktop Notification to deliver immediate pop up alert messages to all network connected computerized devices, ensuring notifications reach users even though campuses are located in different cities.
The deployment included the Alertus ThreatWatcher tool to automatically broadcast real time weather updates from the National Weather Service into the Emergency Mass Notification workflow. Duffee also planned integration of Alertus VoIPphone notification with the campus Cisco phone system, a configuration intended to transform phones on all three campus locations into an additional mass notification channel.
To provide physical alert coverage in high occupancy areas, Clark State planned deployment of Alert Beacon wall mounted units throughout select locations on campus, devices that produce attention grabbing bright flashes and loud sounds and display a custom message about the nature of the emergency and how to respond. Alert Beacon was positioned as the physical complement to desktop and telephony alerts, delivering visual and audible signaling for on site populations.
Rollout funding for the Alert Beacon additions was enabled by a grant from the Ohio Controlling Board, which supported expansion of alert coverage across campus sites. Operational scope covered network connected endpoints, campus telephony via Cisco integration planning, and selected mass gathering locations, and the program standardized emergency notification workflows under the Emergency Mass Notification category.
