Enka Insaat | Construction and Real Estate | 22305 | $3.2B | Turkey | AspenTech | Aspen HYSYS | Process Simulation | 2021 | n/a |
In 2021 Enka Insaat implemented Aspen HYSYS as its primary Process Simulation application to support process engineering on hydrocarbon and water treatment projects. Aspen HYSYS was used for feed verification studies and to perform utility, hydraulic and safety calculations during detailed engineering phases in Istanbul and on-site at the West Qurna 1 project in Iraq.
Engineers used Aspen HYSYS to prepare process simulations, steady state performance calculations and heat and mass balances, while exporting outputs into PFD and P&ID deliverables, equipment lists, line lists, process and equipment datasheets and bases of design. The implementation supported equipment sizing workflows including vessel, pump, orifice, NPSH, heat exchanger, compressor, separator, instrument air, KO drum, TEG Gas Treatment Unit and MDEA Gas Sweetening Unit calculations.
Operationally Aspen HYSYS was integrated in the engineering toolchain alongside Thermoflow/GT Pro for complementary performance and utility calculations, and its outputs were used to review vendor engineering documents and inform material selection and specifications. The Process Simulation deployment covered Process Engineering and Chemical Engineering functions, and extended to Field Engineering during construction and commissioning activities where engineering representatives conducted equipment walkdowns and supported first start and performance testing.
Governance and workflow changes centered on structured deliverables and site coordination, with engineering teams producing redline and as built documentation and coordinating field changes with employer and vendor stakeholders. Workflows reflected standards alignment, engineers applied API and ASME technical requirements within Aspen HYSYS calculations and in preparation of formal process deliverables.

Halker Consulting | OIl, Gas and Chemicals | 200 | $23M | United States | AspenTech | Aspen HYSYS | Process Simulation | 2017 | n/a |
In 2017 Halker Consulting implemented Aspen HYSYS to centralize Process Simulation across its oil, gas and chemicals engineering practice. Aspen HYSYS was positioned as the primary simulation environment to support multi-discipline process studies, linking process engineering workstreams with FEED and detailed design activities.
The implementation emphasized core Aspen HYSYS capabilities such as flowsheet modeling, steady state and transient simulation, thermodynamic and property package selection, and unit operation models for separation, heat transfer and rotating equipment. Configuration work established reusable simulation templates and model libraries to accelerate common engineering tasks and enforce consistent thermodynamic and unit operation definitions across projects.
Operational scope covered process engineering, front end engineering design studies, gas processing and refining discipline support, and utility system sizing within Halker Consulting. Governance practices were introduced to control model versions and review cycles, with simulation handoffs structured around standardized inputs such as mass and energy balances and P&ID-derived equipment definitions to ensure repeatable outputs for downstream engineering.
The Aspen HYSYS deployment supports Halker Consulting across many disciplines, helping to streamline engineering time and reduce project risk. Standardized templates and centralized Process Simulation workflows improved model consistency and reduced duplicated effort across project teams.
