The Infonetics Informss implementation focused on core distribution capabilities typical of Distribution ERP systems, including multi site inventory management, order entry and processing, purchasing and vendor management, pricing and customer account management, and warehouse transaction control. Configuration was aligned to the product mix of welding supplies, specialty and industrial gases, safety equipment, propane equipment, and hand and power tools, reflecting inventory and replenishment patterns unique to gas cylinder and supply distribution.
Operational coverage included all five retail and distribution sites and the corporate office in Spokane, onboarding store sales and operations staff into a centralized transactional platform. The deployment standardized order workflows and inventory transactions across retail and wholesale channels, supporting sales, purchasing, inventory control, and customer account functions across the regional footprint.
The sale and onboarding were executed through INFONETICS field sales activity led by Account Specialist Jim Conlin, and the implementation brought Barb and Shan Bush and approximately 35 employees into the INFONETICS user community. Training and configuration cycles were oriented toward small team adoption and operational continuity, while RALI provided a mechanism for offering value add services to select customers through remote data access. The implementation included the Infonetics Internet Catalog iCat as a web storefront component and was provisioned on the new Version 2.20 release which was available for full distribution in 2003. Infonetics Informss Version 2.20 incorporated a number of enhancements across the application stack, and the release was explicitly ported to RedHat Linux as the server operating system.
Operational architecture leveraged RITA+VPN technology to rewrite branch store communications with the main office, enabling lower cost WAN connectivity compared with traditional leased lines and supporting remote order synchronization. The software and iCat catalog were intended to run on Intel Pentium 4 class servers with Hyper-Threading, providing substantially higher CPU and disk throughput for transaction and catalog processing, with a Linux-based server platform hosting the application and web catalog.
Rollout and governance followed Infonetics INFOGROUP channels, including beta testing cycles and user group engagement for training and early adoption; Advanced Gas Products was named among new customers in September 2003.
