Bristol Water | Utilities | 540 | $161M | United Kingdom | Autodesk | Innovyze InfoWorks WS Pro | Building Information Modeling | 2020 | n/a | In 2020, Bristol Water implemented Innovyze InfoWorks WS Pro to support reverse trace hydraulic modelling and targeted water quality interventions. The Building Information Modeling deployment combined calibrated network simulation with SQL driven spatial analysis to trace upstream sources of discolouration from customer complaint locations. The implementation centered on a calibrated model of the water supply network in InfoWorks WS Pro, enabling hydraulic modelling and time snapshot analysis at specific hours. The project team developed and ran SQL queries inside InfoWorks WS Pro to create spatial layers of affected customer premises, to map associated pipes from a defined snapshot in time, and to trace supply back to common points. A thematic filtering approach used three explicit water quality criteria to identify candidate pipes, these were zero percent of samples downstream greater than 200 micrograms total iron, five percent of samples downstream greater than 100 micrograms total iron, and 0.64 percent of customers downstream reporting discoloured water. Operationally the solution integrated periodic random water quality sample data with five years of customer complaint records, and it was used by hydraulic modellers, the Network Asset Modelling Manager, and water quality scientists to prioritize network interventions. InfoWorks WS Pro outputs were consumed by asset planning processes to determine which larger diameter ferrous mains to consider for relining or replacement, and to define systematic flushing programs for distribution mains supplied from those trunk mains. The project also included collaboration with Bristol University to develop an ice slurry pipe cleansing technique for non ferrous pipes as a lower water use alternative to high velocity flushing. Governance around the use of Innovyze InfoWorks WS Pro embedded evidence based decision making into the AMP 5 trunk mains relining and replacement program, and into routine mains review workflows. The deployment directly informed renovation activity, including the relining or replacement of approximately 60 km of trunk mains and a systematic flushing program to remove historic corrosion debris. The company reported improved water quality outcomes that correlated with the program, in 2017/18 against an Outcome Delivery Incentive target of 2,322 complaints Bristol Water recorded 1,711 negative water quality complaints, 25 percent lower than the target and down 20 percent from the previous year.

Hunter Water | Utilities | 560 | $287M | Australia | Autodesk | Innovyze InfoWorks WS Pro | Building Information Modeling | 2023 | n/a | In 2023, Hunter Water implemented Innovyze InfoWorks WS Pro to run its annual risk assessments and Critical Link Analysis across its water distribution zones. The Innovyze InfoWorks WS Pro deployment serves as a Building Information Modeling application supporting operations and planning for water distribution in New South Wales. Use is centered on network-level asset risk quantification to support capital and operational planning cycles. Hunter Water operationalized Critical Link Analysis and annual risk assessment workflows in Innovyze InfoWorks WS Pro, generating consequence-of-failure and likelihood metrics that directly inform OPEX and CAPEX planning. The implementation produces structured risk outputs used by planners, and aligns with Building Information Modeling practices for utilities, including network simulation, scenario testing, and asset-level risk scoring. Innovyze InfoWorks WS Pro is used to transform assessment inputs into prioritization data for investment planning. Operational coverage spans the corporation's water distribution zones in New South Wales and impacts operations, planning, and regulatory reporting teams. The annual assessment cadence embeds risk-based decision making into governance and provides documented artifacts for regulatory reporting and capital prioritization. Hunter Water's documented use of Innovyze InfoWorks WS Pro supports risk-informed OPEX and CAPEX planning as reported in Autodesk's customer story.
