In 2019 SunTrust Robinson Humphrey implemented Nutanix AOS as its Cloud Storage platform to consolidate primary storage and support virtualization platform engineering. The deployment was positioned to manage storage, data protection and synchronous or asynchronous replication across multiple data centers, supporting over 40 PetaBytes of primary storage while addressing high security regulatory requirements and datacenter relocations and designs for new facilities.
Nutanix AOS was configured to provide block and file storage services, integrated data protection and replication capabilities, and to serve as a platform for virtualization infrastructure on x86 compute. Infrastructure automation and configuration management were implemented using Ansible, Chef, VRA/VRO and Puppet to enable resilient and repeatable infrastructure deployments and to codify standard storage provisioning and recovery runbooks.
Operational integrations included close engineering alignment with VMware for virtualization operations and event based remediation workflows tied into ServiceNow for incident and change orchestration. Governance and rollout followed agile delivery methods with backlog driven sprints for infrastructure features, and included P&L oversight, budget planning, statement of work development and enterprise license agreement execution.
