Covenant Health | Healthcare | 10 | $1M | United States | Oracle | Oracle Health Clinical Data Exchange | Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) | 2025 | n/a |
In 2025 Covenant Health implemented Oracle Health Clinical Data Exchange, an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) application, alongside deployment of Oracle Health Clinical AI Agent to improve clinical documentation workflows. The East Tennessee community owned nonprofit focused the deployment on reducing clinician documentation time and capturing structured encounter elements at the point of care.
The implementation paired Oracle Health Clinical Data Exchange with the Oracle Health Clinical AI Agent voice first capture, configuring the AI Agent to interpret clinician narration and generate draft clinical notes. Oracle Health Clinical Data Exchange was configured to accept structured outputs from the AI Agent and to orchestrate clinical message exchange into the Oracle Health EHR, enabling physicians to review and approve draft notes rather than authoring them from scratch.
Operational deployment included installation of the mobile application on physicians phones and desktops, with providers creating thousands of notes through the combined solution. Integration points explicitly included ingestion of AI Agent produced draft notes into the Oracle Health EHR, and usage analysis was measured across Clinical AI Agent users with greater than 50 percent usage rate comparing January to June 2024 versus July to December 2025.
Governance centered on a clinician review and approval workflow for AI generated notes, preserving clinician signoff while reducing typing burden. Outcomes reported by Covenant Health included a 14.7 percent decrease in average time spent per patient in the EHR and an average savings of 36 minutes per day per provider among users, and Covenant plans to expand usage across the organization.

Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center | Healthcare | 3500 | $400M | United States | Oracle | Oracle Health Clinical Data Exchange | Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) | 2024 | n/a |
In 2024, Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center implemented Oracle Health Clinical Data Exchange as its Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) solution to automate secure clinical data exchange between providers and payers for claims processing. The deployment runs on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and leverages a centralized exchange architecture to replace manual phone and fax transmissions with a network presence that allows one time onboarding to share data with multiple payer participants.
Functional configuration emphasized FHIR query based retrieval and bulk processing of clinical documents, provider controlled data access and audit trails, and standardized payload formats familiar to payers. Oracle Health Clinical Data Exchange was used to automate authorization workflows, orchestrate clinical document delivery for claim evaluation, and reduce manual assembly of reimbursement documentation.
Integrations described in the implementation include direct onboarding paths for providers using Oracle Health electronic health record systems at no additional charge, enabling those EHR instances to provision selected payers on the exchange. The architecture eliminates point to point interfaces while supporting industry standard data exchange, and operational coverage focused on revenue cycle management, utilization management, authorization teams, payer relations, and IT governance for data sharing.
Governance and compliance controls were configured so providers control which clinical data elements are accessible to specific payer partners and can audit transmitted data to confirm exact receipt. Customers sign up through an SR in eService to provision access, and Oracle Health Clinical Data Exchange uses OCI security capabilities to protect patient privacy while aiming to reduce administrative time, speed approvals, and accelerate payment processing as stated by the vendor.
