In 2009, the Government of Alberta deployed Pandell AP as an Electronic Payment System to streamline finance and accounts payable processes, launching the solution in May 2009. The implementation is described as an AP Automation initiative focused on large volume invoice payments managed by provincial finance operations.
Pandell AP implementation delivered core AP automation capabilities including electronic payment processing, high volume invoice handling and workflow automation for approvals and batch payments. Configuration emphasized invoice intake and automated payment orchestration consistent with AP Automation functional workflows, enabling faster processing cycles within the accounts payable function.
The project was executed in cooperation with IBM, reflecting a systems integration partnership for rollout and operational support. The solution integrated with Government of Alberta finance operations and payment interfaces to enable large scale disbursements and electronic remittance workflows across provincial departments.
Governance and process changes accompanied the technical deployment, with centralized payment controls and standardized AP workflows introduced to support the electronic payment system. Rollout activities included coordination between Pandell, IBM and government finance teams, and operationalizing new approval and payment administration procedures.
The initiative processed roughly 50,000 billing invoices monthly and reduced invoice processing time by about threefold, outcomes that demonstrated Pandell AP and e payment capability in the Canadian public sector. In 2011, Murphy Oil implemented Pandell AP to provide AP Automation while selecting Pandell's AFENexus AFE solution. Murphy selected Pandell's AFENexus AFE solution in late 2011 and rolled out the first phase for Murphy EXPRO in early 2012 to speed AFE approvals and capital tracking within its US operations.

Governance and process alignment concentrated on unifying AFE approval paths with accounts payable processing to accelerate approvals and improve capital tracking, with Pandell AP and AFENexus operating as integrated elements of Murphy Oil's financial application stack.
