Cobis US | Professional Services | 680 | $75M | United States | SoftwareONE | SoftwareONE PyraCloud | Software Asset Management (SAM),IT Asset Management (ITAM),SaaS Spend Management | 2015 | n/a | In 2015, COBIS US implemented SoftwareONE PyraCloud alongside SoftwareONE SAMSimple to establish a managed software lifecycle and procurement capability aligned to Software Asset Management (SAM),IT Asset Management (ITAM),SaaS Spend Management. The initiative supported COBIS US expansion into Mexico and North America and addressed the need to sustain SaaS-based cloud service quality while controlling third party software spend across customer and company sites. The deployment centered on SoftwareONE PyraCloud as a cloud-accessible platform to manage and optimize software both on premises and in the cloud, with SAMSimple delivered as a managed service to avoid upfront server infrastructure. Functional modules and capabilities implemented include purchase tracking, user attribution and license assignment, renewal management, expense tracking, and discovery to identify unused or underutilized software assets. Operational coverage included COBIS IT and client services teams supporting banks across South America and new markets in North America, with governance processes reoriented to track software assignment to specific partners and automate renewal workflows. The program integrated SoftwareONE’s Service Provider License Agreement licensing model to enable flexible scaling of cloud licenses for COBIS clients, and PyraCloud was used to surface software spend trends to inform procurement decisions and reduce contractual risk. As a result of implementing SAMSimple and SoftwareONE PyraCloud, COBIS US achieved centralized control of software purchases, user tracking, renewals, and expense management, and reported improved visibility into how installations bind to licensing contracts and how assets are used. The engagement also enabled COBIS to create a new SaaS offering with elastic license sizing under SPLA, and the case materials cite an estimated ROI of 184 percent. | |

LA Metro | Transportation | 9892 | $7.2B | United States | SoftwareONE | SoftwareONE PyraCloud | Software Asset Management (SAM),IT Asset Management (ITAM),SaaS Spend Management | 2019 | n/a | In 2019, LA Metro deployed SoftwareONE PyraCloud to gain visibility and control over Microsoft Azure consumption, aligning the initiative to Software Asset Management (SAM),IT Asset Management (ITAM),SaaS Spend Management. The work focused on the SoftwareONE PyraCloud Platform Cloud Management module to reconcile EA commitments with actual cloud usage and to address cost control needs during early cloud adoption. The Cloud Management module was configured to deliver resource-level transparency, budget and spend governance, forecasting and cost optimization by provider, business unit and application. SoftwareONE PyraCloud was used to provide reporting and policy-driven controls that surfaced high utilization virtual machines and enabled automated operational actions. Deployment integrated the PyraCloud Cloud Management capability with LA Metro's Microsoft Azure Enterprise Agreement to track spend against the EA commitment, and the operational scope covered IT operations, development teams and Line of Business stakeholders responsible for cloud budgets. Teams used the platform to drill into specific cloud resources and implement controls such as throttling high utilization VMs, automated shutdown of VMs during off hours and turning down VMs that were not utilized. As an outcome LA Metro identified Azure spend trending roughly 3X above the initial budget and then applied the platform-driven controls to bring spend under control, continuing to use SoftwareONE PyraCloud to ensure EA budgets are not exceeded. Governance was adjusted to route cloud cost findings to IT and business stakeholders for remediation, establishing ongoing oversight through the SoftwareONE PyraCloud Cloud Management module. |
