CIBC Capital Markets Banking and Financial Services 1256 $1.5B Canada ION Investment Group Wallstreet FX Sales and Trading Solutions Trading Platform 2017 n/a
In 2017, CIBC Capital Markets implemented Wallstreet FX Sales and Trading Solutions, a Trading Platform that centralizes FX pricing, quoting and booking workflows. The Wallstreet FX Sales and Trading Solutions Trading Platform supports FX sales and trading business functions across pricing, booking and reporting workflows within Capital Markets Technology. Implementation focused on a Pricing Engine that functions as a comprehensive Foreign Exchange quoting solution, creating and broadcasting client specific tradable price streams in real time for multiple FX rates simultaneously. Functional modules exercised included the Pricing Engine core, an inhouse Pricing portal used for validation and trade review, product code mappings known internally as Bulletins which link product codes to Foreign, Local, Direct, Indirect, Regional and Non-Regional currency mappings, and the Reporting Application Tool MODIF for post-trade reporting changes. The implementation integrated operational validation with Wall Street Systems for trade booking reconciliation, and relied on a Pricing Engine database as the canonical price and booking store. API level testing and automation interfaces were exercised using Postman collections, and testers performed manual and API-based booking posts to validate end to end flows. Data validation and diagnostics used Oracle SQL Developer for table and parameter queries and Hue query editor to extract historical and cluster data, while UAT, PreProd and production environments were validated using HP ALM for functional, regression, negative and smoke testing workflows. Governance and rollout were driven through Capital Markets Technology ASG QA in Toronto, with test cases authored from business requirement documents, JIRA stories and Confluence artifacts. QA processes included preproduction manual test cycles, post deployment sanity checks on production and explicit validation that Pricing Engine DBs remained in sync with Wall Street Systems using WSS. Notable program workstreams and projects exercised on the platform included MCP ISP Global currency expansion, CCR Phase 2 Air Canada Pre-Paid and New Corridors, and a Skype Chatbot project which enabled RSG Trade Desk personnel to negotiate preferred foreign exchange rates by tying the bot to the Pricing Engine database and Wall Street booking flows.

Business functions engaged in the effort included FX sales and trading desks, back-office settlement and reconciliation teams, compliance and business analysts, with coordination across developers and test resources to scope end-to-end transaction flows. Governance and test process design emphasized formal test plans, test strategies and test summaries, defect tracking and remediation coordination with internal teams and vendor resources, assisted user acceptance testing and scheduled WebEx walkthroughs to review testing approach and scenarios. Documentation and reporting mechanisms were used to track testing status and to instruct and onboard testing resources, aligning testing activities with the bank’s systems development lifecycle and release cadence.
