Currys | Retail | 24000 | $11.3B | United Kingdom | Oracle | Oracle Essbase | Analytics and BI | 2012 | n/a | In 2012, Currys implemented Oracle Essbase within its Analytics and BI estate as part of a coordinated finance and reporting program. The initiative ran alongside deployments of Blackline for finance controls and a new workflow system, and included the design and implementation of the Dixons Carphone future Finance Operating Model. The program relocated and realigned over 250 FTE activities across four locations to align service delivery and centralize reporting responsibilities. Oracle Essbase was configured to provide centralized financial reporting, multi dimensional modelling for planning and forecasting, and period end aggregation and consolidation workflows. Configuration work focused on chart of accounts mapping, dimensional hierarchies, and rule based calculation scripts consistent with Analytics and BI best practices. Reporting objects and Essbase cubes were structured to support finance controlled data models used by accounting and FP&A teams. The Essbase deployment was integrated with the new Blackline finance controls platform and with the implemented workflow system to enable reconciliation aware reporting and approval routing across finance processes. Operational coverage included finance and reporting functions across the four locations where FTE activities were consolidated, embedding Oracle Essbase as the reporting tier within the Finance Operating Model. The implementation supported cross functional interaction between accounting, FP&A and service delivery teams. Governance changes included establishment of a centralized reporting governance forum, role based access controls within Essbase, and restructured process ownership to reflect the new Finance Operating Model. Rollout emphasized staged cube builds and controlled data loads to limit disruption during the transfer of FTE activities, with documentation and process maps created to standardize reporting and reconciliation workflows. | |
