Manning Impex Distribution 25 $2M United Kingdom WiseTech Global Microlistics WMS Warehouse Management 2020 n/a In 2020, Manning Impex deployed Microlistics Enterprise WMS in a Warehouse Management implementation at its Camberley, Surrey warehouse after outgrowing existing paper based and manually processed warehouse practices. The implementation targeted the company’s food services distribution operations, with explicit emphasis on temperature controlled workflows that align with food safety handling requirements. Manning Impex positioned the project to enable end to end digitalisation and automation of warehouse execution. Microlistics Enterprise WMS was configured to provide system directed task management of warehouse operatives, real time visibility of customer orders, and comprehensive track and traceability across temperature controlled inventory. The deployment leveraged core Warehouse Management capabilities including task orchestration, inventory visibility and traceability to replace manual pick ticketing and paper based order handling, and to formalise order to dispatch operational workflows. The WMS integration plan included a direct technical integration with Sage X3 ERP to synchronize order, inventory and customer master data between the WMS and enterprise finance and order management systems. Operational ownership centered on warehouse operations and order fulfilment teams, with program governance focused on converting manual procedures to system directed workflows and on configuring controls for temperature sensitive product handling. Rollout was scoped to Manning Impex’s Camberley site and emphasised phased user adoption for warehouse operatives, configuration of temperature zone controls and traceability rules, and end user training to shift operational responsibilities into the Microlistics WMS. Leadership statements from Manning Impex and Microlistics framed the initiative as both a technical modernisation and a capability buildup for food service processes in the UK and European markets.

The deployment centered on Blue Yonder Luminate Planning, positioned to give planners end-to-end visibility across online and store channels and to improve responsiveness to rapid changes in consumer demand. The implementation was configured to support core planning workflows common to supply chain planning, including demand sensing, inventory planning, and replenishment orchestration, delivered through a modern, user-friendly and highly configurable planning interface. Configuration emphasized collaborative planning and scenario modeling capabilities to enable cross-functional orchestration between merchandising, inventory operations, and replenishment teams. The cloud model was a key architectural choice, intended to accelerate supply chain speed and provide centralized, near-real-time access to omni-channel sales and order streams, supporting store fulfillment and ecommerce order flows. Integrations focused on connecting ecommerce order data, point-of-sale sales streams, and downstream replenishment processes to feed the Blue Yonder Luminate Planning engine and sustain continuous planning cadences. Governance and rollout targeted planning and replenishment teams, with processes adjusted to take advantage of continuous visibility and configurable planning rules, enabling faster decision cycles across operations. Reported outcomes from the implementation included improved omni-channel visibility and an accelerated supply chain speed, along with a more configurable and user-friendly planning experience for employees.
