Apps Purchases: 10+ Million Software Purchases
Founded in 2010, APPS RUN THE WORLD is a leading technology intelligence and market-research company devoted to the application space. Leveraging a rigorous data-centric research methodology, we ask the simple B2B sales intelligence question: Who’s buying enterprise applications from whom and why?
Our global team of 50 researchers has been studying the digital transformation initiatives being undertaken by 2 million + companies including technographic segmentation of 10 million ERP, EPM, CRM, HCM, Procurement, SCM, Treasury software purchases, aggregating massive amounts of data points that form the basis of our forecast assumptions and perhaps the rise and fall of certain vendors and their products on a quarterly basis.
Apps Run The World Buyer Insight and Technographics Customer Database has over 100 data fields that detail company usage of emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, Autonomous Database, and different on-prem and cloud apps by function, customer size (employees, revenues), industry, country, implementation status, year deal won, partner involvement, Line of Business Key Stakeholders and key decision-makers contact details, including the systems being used by Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 companies.

Caterpillar | Manufacturing | 112900 | $64.8B | United States | Rockwell Automation | Rockwell FactoryTalk InnovationSuite | Asset Performance Management | 2018 | n/a | In 2018, Caterpillar implemented Rockwell FactoryTalk InnovationSuite as an Asset Performance Management solution within its Advanced Component Manufacturing Division. The initial objective was to instrument critical constraint machines to capture PLC data and surface graphical analysis to manufacturing engineers, demonstrated during a four week proof of concept executed ahead of year end. The project team combined IT and OT personnel and obtained vendor support from Rockwell Automation and PTC. The effort targeted elimination of black box operations by exposing real time process data to engineering and operations staff. The Rockwell FactoryTalk InnovationSuite deployment emphasized IIoT device connectivity, PLC data ingestion, real time visualization, and contextual analytics to validate whether processes met engineering specifications. Configuration work concentrated on time series capture, dashboards for manufacturing engineers, and rule based alerts to surface non value added time, consistent with Asset Performance Management functionality. The initial sprint prioritized quick wins to prove connectivity and deliver usable insights to production teams. Integrations included direct PLC connectivity and efforts to plumb ERPs and master data for richer contextualization, informed by weeks of on site plant assessments. The implementation began with critical constraint machines and was then expanded to cover the remainder of the plant and additional domestic and international sites. ERP and master data context was used to align production traces with back office records and supply chain inputs to make analytics actionable. Governance and process changes formalized collaboration between IT and OT through direct interaction and a single cross functional team responsible for strategy refinement and execution. Local business and finance stakeholders were engaged to quantify benefits and prioritize use cases, and plant level readiness assessments were used to sequence rollouts. This operating model created shared accountability for embedding analytics outputs into engineering and production workflows. Outcomes recorded in the project included a reduction in overall process time of over 5 percent on day one and several hundred thousand dollars of cost avoidance by demonstrating that additional assets or shifts were not required. Early success drove expansion of the Asset Performance Management scope across multiple plants and established a data foundation to continuously identify non value added time and enable rapid process optimization using Rockwell FactoryTalk InnovationSuite. | |
