The billing setup supports subscriptions, usage plans, one time fees, tiered pricing, installment payments, discounts, allowances, and flexible payment timing consistent with Subscription and Recurring Billing capabilities. Architecturally the solution was built on a composable approach using SAP open APIs, and it was integrated with Roche’s financial back end as well as customer service and provisioning systems. The implementation integrated SAP Subscription Billing and SAP Entitlement Management with eight enterprise IT systems to establish a single source of truth for Roche’s digital offerings. Plans were documented to extend integration to customer facing applications to provide sales enablement and customer self service. Roche executed an agile greenfield implementation with a cross functional team that included Roche product and business users, SAP, and implementation partner Accenture. Business stakeholders were engaged from the outset which enabled rapid iteration, and the program achieved first go live in 4.5 months across three countries. The rollout scaled to 16 countries within one year. The platform is live supporting 16 digital products with plans to onboard more than 50 additional products, and it centralizes product catalog, pricing, entitlement, and billing governance.
