The Co-operative Bank | Banking and Financial Services | 2656 | $671M | United Kingdom | The Access Group | Access Education | Learning and Development | 2020 | n/a | In 2020, The Co-operative Bank implemented Access Education as part of a broader Learning and Development effort aligned with an integrated HCM and payroll program. The deployment was coordinated with a concurrent PeopleXD HR system and payroll managed services rollout from The Access Group, reflecting a vendor-aligned, multi-product approach to HR, payroll and learning operations. The Access Education deployment emphasized learning management and compliance training, leveraging the bank's existing use of Access Learning Solutions for financial services governance, mortgage and home finance training. The project sequence followed a strict Launch, Deploy, Review and Run, Parallel Run and Business as Usual handover cadence, with a three-week UAT cycle covering functional, end-to-end, integration and performance testing, and a four-week payroll parallel run prior to go-live in November. Operational delivery included classroom and virtual training workshops, lunchtime manager briefings to drive adoption, and daily project stand-ups to resolve issues in real time. The implementation addressed significant data quality remediation through a deep dive analysis and reconfiguration of job posts following an unscheduled reorganisation, while also correcting inherited pension salary sacrifice calculations within the PeopleXD payroll configuration. Governance was formalized at kickoff the same afternoon selection was made, with joint project milestones, defined roles and a staged sign-off process that moved the program from launch to live support. All stated objectives and targets were met to schedule, ongoing payroll accuracy has been sustained above SLAs, and Access Education now operates within the bank’s Learning and Development estate to support self-service learning, compliance training and improved visibility for HR and payroll processes. | |
