Instituto Geografico Agustin Codazzi | Government | 834 | $242M | Colombia | Planet Labs | Planet Insights Platform | Analytics and BI | 2025 | Procalculo | In 2025, Instituto Geográfico Agustín Codazzi implemented the Planet Insights Platform as part of an expanded multi-year contract with Planet Labs, deploying advanced geospatial analytics within the Analytics and BI category. The deployment centralizes daily PlanetScope imagery and SkySat tasking with AI-powered change detection feeds to support national land management across Colombia. The Planet Insights Platform deployment includes Planet Change Detection: Roads and Buildings, SkySat Flexible Tasking, PlanetScope Monitoring, and the Education and Research package, each mapped to discrete analytic workflows. These modules provide automated change detection for infrastructure mapping, near daily broad area monitoring, and prioritized tasking for higher-resolution observation where detailed assessment is required. Configuration focused on imagery ingest pipelines, AI-enabled change detection models, and curated analytics feeds tailored to urban planning and environmental monitoring use cases. Planet Insights Platform is integrated into IGAC’s government platform Observatorio de la Tierra y el Territorio OTT, delivering analytics to the Dirección de Gestión de Información Geográfica and downstream stakeholders. Procalculo served as the geospatial intelligence partner providing implementation and technical assistance, enabling operational data flows from Planet services into OTT and supporting AI-enabled change analysis workflows used by urban planning, infrastructure, disaster response, and environmental management teams across Colombia. Governance is organized under IGAC operational units with the Dirección de Gestión de Información Geográfica accountable for analytic standards, change detection thresholds, and data release policies. Rollout emphasized embedding analytics into existing decision workflows for policy compliance monitoring and risk identification, with Procalculo delivering training and technical support to operational teams. Stated outcomes include enhanced analysis and decision-making for urban planning, infrastructure monitoring, and environmental management, and a strengthened ability to enforce regulations and identify risks such as floods and landslides. The Planet Insights Platform provides persistent, AI-powered geospatial inputs into national land management and supports government-led research and education initiatives through the Education and Research package. | |
