Ace Hardware | Retail | 12500 | $9.5B | United States | Workday | Workday Journeys | Employee Experience | 2017 | n/a | In 2017 Ace Hardware implemented Workday Journeys within its Employee Experience portfolio to extend HR service delivery and people experience capabilities. The deployment was administered by an internal HRIS Analyst team responsible for Workday HCM, Recruitment, Benefits, Compensation, Performance, Time and Absence, Payroll, Expenses, Help and Journeys, positioning Workday Journeys as a central tool for lifecycle orchestration and employee communications. Configuration work focused on People Experience capabilities, including Guided Workspace, Announcements, Tenant Branding and Job Change Templates, and the creation of a structured knowledge base through Workday Help Articles. The team authored and published more than 200 Help Articles and distributed five Workday Journeys to date, while also configuring Request Framework solutions to automate common HR requests such as security access, company credit cards, tuition reimbursement on demand payments and change order requests. Integrations and data movement used Workday-native mechanisms, notably EIB file loads for incentives, bonuses and gift cards, and built-in reporting for headcount and payroll submissions to auditors. Operational coverage targeted HR service teams and payroll and benefits administrators, with system administration tasks including security permission management, custom report development, data integrity monitoring and assistance to end users. Governance and rollout were managed through an HRIS-centered operating model, with the HRIS Analyst function leading configuration, testing and release validation. Activities included collaboration with senior HRIS analysts on release testing, development of Quick Reference Guides and end-user training sessions, and support for annual merit configuration and testing, embedding Workday Journeys into Ace Hardware's Employee Experience and HR service workflows.

Ace Hardware | Retail | 12500 | $9.5B | United States | Workday | Workday Expense | Expense Management | 2020 | n/a | In 2020, Ace Hardware implemented Workday Expense as part of a Workday Travel and Expense rollout, deploying Workday Expense within its corporate Workday tenant to address Expense Management needs. The initiative followed a prior Workday HCM engagement and was executed by an internal core team that retained configuration responsibility and ongoing release assessment activities. The implementation focused on expense reporting, approval routing, and reimbursement workflows, with explicit configuration and modifications to business processes, security configuration, condition rules, and alerts and notifications. The team configured payroll earnings and deduction codes to align reimbursement posting and payroll interface behavior, and built dashboards plus advanced, matrix and composite reports using calculated fields and analytic indicators to support finance and HR users. Operational coverage centered on finance and HR functions at the corporate level, with governance anchored in role based security, business process rules, and continuous assessment of Workday releases to manage downstream changes. Workday Expense was instrumented to support centralized configuration management and routine adjustments to condition rules and notifications, reflecting an emphasis on process control and analytic instrumentation rather than a separate point solution.
